I don't think a comedy pod will ever top CBB in my book. The consistency along with the amount of moving parts/guests in an episode is unparalleled. PFT is right when he says there's a magic in that room that can't be described.

 

I think episode 300 of CBB is my favorite ep of any pod ever, maybe even one of my favorite comedy works.

 

i can't even sit through a whole episode, generally. it's just such a mad house that i don't understand what's happening and it just takes me out of it.

maybe i should listen to the 300th episode and see if i like that one, since that's such a praised episode. maybe i'm just listening to the wrong ones. i don't know...

hollywood handbook has me in stitches every week though. so my comedy podcast bar is set there.

 

Episode 300 is just Scott and Jason Mantzoukas in a co-host kind of role, with Andy Daly playing every single character he had ever appeared as simultaneously, switching between characters as Scott and Jason address them. It's the improv equivalent of Andy Daly walking a tightrope for an hour and a half and it's just masterful, so, so funny, he doesn't miss a beat.

I will say that the biggest barrier of entry to CBB is the amount of different characters played by the regular guests. You've got to really be familiar with someone's past appearances to make sense of it all the time.

 

I feel like Hollywood Handbook is even more inaccessible than CBB, but I got into CBB first so maybe that's why

 

I started at the beginning of Hollywood Handbook and got a few eps in before dropping it. I just don't find having the same two characters each week all that appealing. I'm sure I'm really missing out and I'll return to it in the future but I've got 100 eps left in Doughboys to catch up on lol

 

Completely sold on Off Book ten minutes in

 

Doughboys > Hollywood Handbook

 

I can cosign this. Not that there's anything wrong with HH, I just like it when my comedy pods have conversational bits on top of funniness/character work.

If anyone in here still has not listened to the Seth Morris Radio Project, you're messing up rrreeeaaall bad. Just relistened today.

Laugh for laugh there is no way Doughboys is better than Hollywood Handbook.

There's way too many episodes of CBB for me to listen to all of them. I probably listen to one I'm every 4 as they come out

tried Hollywood Handbook once and didn't find it funny, but I think it was just a random episode

and speaking of podcasts that make me laugh, enjoyed the first episode of off book a whole lot

 

Doughboys will probably always be my favorite/ make me laugh the most consistently.

 

Once upon a time I was a Doughboys skeptic and now it's everything to me

 

Doughboys is so much more than a podcast

Also both episodes of Off Book were great and I'm a huge fan instantly

 

I also enjoy audio entertainment, and to laugh

 

When I think about what I like about podcasts... I think, are these guys nice and funny and smart?
