Just bought tickets for Burr's show in March. Super excited to finally catch him, in a small club nonetheless. My favorite comic working right now.

It didn't seem like it was meant to be funny though. There were at least two 10-minute stretches where audience didn't laugh and I believe that was his intention - to be serious.

 

It was serious but he still managed to sneak in a couple funny points in there. It was mainly during the first part on that mic, if I remember correctly.

 

That Kinane clip is perfection.

 

Bill Burr was exactly what I thought it would be, and that's okay. I'm not sure how it stands up to his last special, but that bit about the gorilla is amazing.

 

Burr special was good, but not his best.

Bill Burr is always fantastic. No one goes on rants quite like him.

 

I'm not the biggest Bill Burr guy. I like him in small doses. Sometimes I find him real funny, other times obnoxious. I thought his special was OK. An hour and 17 minutes was a bit much for me, personally.

I really liked the McDonald's bit. I thought the whole Hitler/Stalin bit was strange. I mean, it's 2017 and he was acting like the Hitler bit was all edgy and new. The bit had some moments but I think he thought he was being more edgy than it really was.

I also thought the crowd was really bad throughout the special. He even mentioned a few times how the crowd was 'holding it back" like three or four times.

 

He's hilarious when he's on things like Conan.

 

This was my first impression. It's hard to top I'm Sorry You Feel That Way. I'll have to warm up to the new one and see if it gets better.

Definitely watch the last one. It's 80 minutes of consistently funny material.

 

I agree, which confirms my small doses comment, haha. I get a lot of people like him, and he does have the potential to be very funny, but when I'm watching him for an hour +, it's a bit much. Like, even small things where he said 'you know what it is' a million times in his latest special started to bother me.

 

I like when he's riffing more so than hearing his planned and worked out material.

 

In general I have a super low threshold for edgy comedians like him, I feel like they think being offensive is automatically funny when it isn't

 

Burr is grouped in with a lot of comics that aim to be offensive, but he's always stayed in his own lane. I haven't heard him lower his standards for shock value.

 

I don't consider Burr to be an edgy or shock comic at all.

 

Oh I've seen it haha I'm just not sure how I'd compare the two yet. The last one probably tops it, but I really, really like that gorilla bit lol. It destroyed me.

 

"I'm gonna have to get a coat, a hat.... and some fucked up shoes." was my fav line from Burr's special. The entire gorilla bit had me rolling.
