It's weird to see people rank Blood and Parachutes at the bottom. Such monumental albums to me. But also happy to see people rank Ghost Stories so high. Honestly Viva/Ghost/Blood/Parachutes can be interchangeable at that top spot.
Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends Mylo Xyloto X&Y Parachutes A Rush of Blood to the Head Ghost Stories A Head Full of Dreams
Been way too long since I fully indulged in this band. That EP (which was solid) feels like forever ago
X&Y has a bunch of my favorite Coldplay songs, but also has a fair number of duds. I feel like that’s the album where they were really starting to play around with their sound and try new things, which is good, but you can definitely hear the growing pains. Edit: yeah, @Serh gets it.
Last album was bad except opener and closer, but All I Can Think About Is You is one of their best songs ever. Shows they still have it.
I'll chime in: Square One, Fix You, Talk, Speed of Sound, Swallowed in the Sea, Til Kingdom Come are all top level for me. Obviously, mileage will vary. I'll edit this to say that they really have killer opening tracks for their albums. That bass line in Square One gives me life.
This list, plus "A Message." I'm lukewarm on most of the other songs on that record. Probably a cliche pick, but "Fix You" is still my choice for best Coldplay song. It's everything they do well in one five-minute burst.
Top tier: Viva la Vida A Rush of Blood to the Head Ghost Stories Mid tier: Parachutes Bottom tier: A Head Full of Dreams Myo Xyloto X&Y Surprised and glad to see all the Ghost Stories love.
I just looked at Coldplay’s top songs on iTunes and I feel like I’ve heard at least 15 of their top songs on the radio or in public places over the last year. And I really, really like almost every one of them. Can’t think of another band like that.
To me, Parachutes will always be their best work. Especially the epic opening six strong stretch from “Don’t Panic” to “Trouble”. One of my all time top ten favorite records for certain.
Ghost Stories A Rush of Blood to the Head Mylo Xyloto Viva la Vida Parachutes A Head Full of Dreams X&Y As people have said, X&Y does have some of their best and most memorable work though. I just return to it as a whole the least! Ghost Stories by far the best. Everything I wanted from a Coldplay album.
Rush of Blood Viva Ghost Stories Parachutes Mylo Xyloto X&Y A Head Full of Dreams Top two interchangeable from one day to the next. I like all of them to various extents tho. AHFOD is their weakest but those songs are lifted so much in a live setting. Ghost Stories would be top tier except it bums me out way too much.

In addition to the documentary, the band are going to release a live album CD/DVD/LP in December with an option to package both together.
