Night 2 at MetLife was a last minute decision that paid off big time. Not only did Coldplay do their thing spectacularly, but they brought out Bruce Springsteen for two songs. “Working On a Dream” with the whole band “Dancing In the Dark” with just Chris Say what you will about Coldplay, but they do stadium shows about as well as anyone I’ve seen.
Ah, I was on the fence of which show to go to, how lucky! They really do it up, don't they? Part of why I decided to go last minute was because I had such a great time during their Global Citizen in the fall and really just needed that kind of atmosphere. With the stage setup as it is, the floor felt almost small, and there's just so much fun happening at all times! Really a blast.
I skipped this round because I am trying to no longer see every band every time they play NYC (since I listen to so much music). The 2016-17 tour production was spectacular and this one looks amazing as well. Never understood why Coldplay gets so much shit because unlike, say, Nickelback, they actually took some of the criticism to heart and made a point to continue updating/expanding their sound in a positive way. On top of that, they're very philanthropic (something they must have taken from U2) which also deserves commendation.
People have disproportionate and illogical levels of hate for U2, too, so I guess Coldplay just inherited that as part of the stadium rock act succession plan.
Damn, I was planning to go to the show last night but my buddy got called into work unexpectedly. That must've been wild to see! I haven't seen Coldplay since the Mylo tour in 2012, I really wanna experience their stadium show.
This stadium tour was very similar to their last one that stopped here in 2017, but when it’s done this well, you can’t complain. The light show with everyone’s bracelets is worth the price of admission. Highly recommend that everyone who enjoys their big hits check out a future stadium performance from them. Seeing Bruce was icing on the cake. Born and raised in NJ for 35 years and this was the first time I’ve ever seen him perform live. It was a special moment.
When I saw them at MetLife a couple years ago they had Michael J Fox as a guest, which was really cool. Bruce is cooler though, jealous of everyone who was there
I don’t think a club can contain them. I watched their performance on Austin City Limits and it was so much energy for even a bigger room like that.
I’d take MJF any day. You can always buy tickets to a Bruce show or tour but MJF in the flesh, and playing music? From Back To The Future? With COLDPLAY?! That’s truly extraordinary.
Coldplay is selling tickets to their Philly show tomorrow night for $20. they come in pairs, when you show up you'll find out where you're seated.
They've had Infinity tickets for a few dates! I almost got them for the Sunday MetLife show but ended up going Saturday instead (and spending a bit more, but that's ok, easier to do not on a school night!).
so they're still one of the best live bands on the planet. two hours, 25 songs, two Craig David covers with the man himself because why the fuck not? new songs sound so good live and they busted out Viva La Vida six songs in like it was nothing lol. just absurdly brilliant. and they played fucking Politik and Sparks aaaaaaaaa
The band will be continuing the tour into next year. An email went out with this, teasing more North American dates soon. Every date so far on this tour has been reported as sold out. Wondering if they’re headed for some sort of record. They definitely broke something with 10 sold out soccer stadium dates in Argentina this November.
I just went in June and would honestly go again, and I'm not even that big of a fan of Coldplay. I just really like their concerts!
Saw them last night, fourth time. I think this is the weakest set list of the lot. They have so much good material to draw on, unfortunately almost none of it comes from anything they’ve released in the last 10 years. The reaction to the new stuff was dead, likewise the Beyoncé and Chainsmokers collabs. I wonder if they feel that on stage?
Fucking hell - are there any other bands/artists that can sell out this many stadium shows this quickly? (especially in the same city!)
