Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends Parachutes X & Y Ghost Stories A Rush of Blood to the Head Mylo Xyloto Everyday Life Music of the Spheres A Head Full of Dreams
I like all of the albums a good amount honestly. But I definitely have my favorites and ones I don’t listen to a whole lot. Top tier: Mylo Xyloto Viva La Vida Ghost Stories Great/Amazing: X&Y Everyday Life A Rush of Blood Okay/Good: A Head Full of Dreams Music of the Spheres Parachutes
Hard to rank and compare so many diverse albums but at this point Ghost Stories is my favourite. Everyday Life is up there from their recent efforts and A Rush of Blood is my favourite from the old releases.
Doing a discography run since I'm seeing them on Saturday. The first four albums (especially X&Y) are still so good. I have much more positive feelings about Mylo Xyloto now than I did initially, and Ghost Stories is still solid. A Head Full of Dreams, however, is pretty rough.
3 Coldplay thoughts I had today: 1) I bought Parachutes in Dec of 2000 when I was of the understanding that Coldplay were another one of those post-Britpop bands that critics in the US liked but would probably not do much commercially (similar to, say, Travis). Damn was I wrong. 2) I like this album but don't feel like going to this tour. I'm sure the show is amazing but don't feel like paying the $$ and trekking over to an NFL stadium. 3) They definitely should (but probably won't) do A Rush Of Blood To Head reissue in the fall for its 20th anniversary with all the b-sides and any other cutting floor songs.
Delved into some of the b-sides for the first time earlier this year. There are a lot of good ones from those early records, but most of the "I can't believe these weren't on the record" songs for me were from the X&Y era. "Proof," especially, is just top tier Coldplay.
sorry Parachutes Ghost Stories Mylo Xyloto Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends A Head Full of Dreams X&Y A Rush of Blood to the Head Music of the Spheres Everyday Life I do need to revisit X&Y and Rush of Blood though but I did not like them much outside of the singles when I listened to them years ago.
X&Y is another that needs a release with all those tracks collected. I think the b-sides to Parachutes and AROBTTH are all on streaming platforms so that might dissuade them from doing but still would be a cool item (and the vinyl would sell out instantly).
I’ve always loved this as well. This cover came during a rough period of life for me and it got a lot of plays.
I really like Biutyful. It's not a show closer and I could have done without the pitch shift in the first verse but that goofiness aside, still pretty good. remembered today it's about two and a half months til I see them and I'm so excited still.
I’ve recently gone through all their albums and I can safely say that A Head Full Of Dreams is their worst by far. I only like one song (hymn for the weekend) and think adventure of a lifetime is okay, but the rest I’m fine with never hearing again.
Caught them live last night and they really do put on a great show. Did not expect the "Biutyful" voice to have a persona, that was kinda cute! And Kylie Minogue was there!
I was at the show last night too and thought they were incredible. Had a great time and finally got to see them after missing them for years
Such a fun time! I'm so curious if they usually do "Sky Full of Stars" like that tho or if there was a particular reason Chris was like "wait hold up."
i saw on setlist.fm that he’s asked for folks to put their phones away at other shows but I like the way he did it and of course it was like the most theatrical performances of the evening
