Can’t wait. Although, does anyone know if the song they played at the online Glastonbury is on this? Can’t remember what it was called.
Torn. I’d rather not stream to closer, but I’m into the premise of the song and Higher Power hasn’t clicked with me.
Wow, I dug that one a lot. Gonna post some thoughts for those who may want to hold off on streaming the closer, but would like to know the vibe. I'll spoiler tag for those who want to go in blind. Definitely getting ROBTTH vibes throughout a lot of this one, particularly once the drums kick in. Some callbacks sonically to it and X&Y (that organ synth especially) and has some experimental stuff happening that I feel like they haven't tapped into as heavily since Viva La Vida (meter changes, borrowed chords, etc). Lot of new ground too, weaves in and out of what I'd describe as a space film score. Im a fan and hope there's a lot more like this on the record.
Oh wow, yeah this is great! Definitely VERY different from Higher Power lol so I’m wondering which one the album will lean more towards if either.
The ultimate power move. Coldplay is back with a vengeance. I don't think an album has been this realized sonically/visually since Viva La Vida. It checks off all the boxes and I truly didn't think I would be this hyped for a Coldplay album ever again.
Damn, I'm loving this song. And I hated Higher Power. I hope the album leans more towards this sound.
Super cool S'gum article that dives into the music theory behind "Coloratura". Great read for music nerds and Coldplay fans alike: A Composer Breaks Down The Music Theory Behind Coldplay's "Coloratura"
I have no clue what I'm in for with this album. I loved Coloratura, and I like this clip for the Selena song. But I hated Higher Power, and pretty indifferent to My Universe.
I don't want to be a party pooper, and it seems like a lot of people like these songs - but I am starting to feel like this album is going to make me appreciate Everyday Life all the more...
