I never understood why people gush about Toys so much. Glad you like it, agree that it should be way shorter, as should most songs on Vaxis (I love the record, but it's a valid complaint).
slightly contrary to the ppl who think they could've shaved a few minutes off of every song, i think vaxis could've sustained the length if the sequencing + production were more dynamic
Love Protocol into The Pavilion is the best 1-2 punch of that record, and really Coheed at their poppy best.
ranking first singles, and I'm starting with GA, because I wasn't around for the first 2 rollouts 1. Welcome Home 2. Domino 3. The Dark Sentencer 4. The Broken 5. Shoulders 6. The Hard Sell 7. The Running Free 8. You've Got Spirit Kid Kind of forgot The Hard Sell was the first release from Descension since that was an odd rollout anyway. EDIT: to add some personal context to the choices for me: Welcome Home blew my mind as a 14 year old kid. I was still downloading and burning CDs and would add Welcome Home to the end of every CD no matter the band. Domino and The Dark Sentencer were needed to show that Coheed still had the prog in them after their previous albums, and they did their job well, although I think both set expectations slightly too high if you are all in on the prog. The Broken was a fantastic song on a lackluster album, but that song to me really nails what YOTBR is going for, even if the rest of the album comes up short collectively.
Happy this song is short, punchy, and to the point. Strange that this didn't come along with any album info. I can't recall them doing any singles without being accompanied with album info.
Yeah it was the "single", kind of like Here to Mars, but I remember The Hard Sell leaking early and then Coheed running with it. Wiki for Descension confirms that too.
from what I remember it was a lot like this. Everyone knew an album was coming and we had a tour announcement, and they did a ridiculously long series of countdowns with a website that blocked out portions of the page. TDS was released separately from that reveal though if I remember correctly.
that was way too long of a wait. I remember that now. Then had to wait until October for the full album.
Definitely into the song. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait 3 weeks for the album info like last time.
Ive been spending so much money on vinyl and concert tickets lately, that I actually don't mind that there was no album announcement yet. I need at least a week without a damn pre order lol
