Also: is anyone concerned about Travis' lack of leads or cool riffs? He hasn't had anything really cool happening since YOTBR. Domino, for example, is an awesome song, that his leads are absolutely buried in, and honestly, just aren't that good.
I think that’s the most notible deficiency of the later albums. Not sure why they feel the need to bury the guitar leads. Seems like they’re going for more texture than standout riffs, but I’d really like a return to form of stuff pre-YOBTR
I really love the layering and focus on guitars that Good Apollo had. NWFT went overboard with the solos, but it makes sense since Claudio and Travis were really the only two members writing that record. I hope it isn't Claudio becoming too obsessive with it being "his" band.
I watched the SSTB Neverender last night. Man.... some of those mid-album tracks rule live: "Heartshot Kid Disaster" and "33".
I went to the SSTB night of Neverender. Was in like middle school at the time, one of my first “real” shows. Good times!
Seeing myself in the crowd on one of those Neverender DVDs was one of the highlights of my highschool concert attending experiences
I definitely think Afterman (the song) is an underrated song in their discography...absolutely gorgeous
I like YOTBR far more than I do NWFT. That album gets a lot of unnecessary hate. Although it is my least favorite in terms of storytelling. The story is almost as absent from that album as it is on Color. Afterman is one album as far as I am concerned and it's terribly underrated. Probably the best thing they've done since IKS. Controversial anecdote: GA drove most everyone I knew at the time (SSTB, IKS years) away from Coheed. It's got some great music, for sure, but it's a very mean spirited and dark album. So I can completely understand why some people don't like it.
yes yes yes yes this so much this. That climax/last chorus thing to the ending is just pure bliss. One of their best moments songwriting wise ever
My copy of Good Apollo v.1 I remember for some reason didn’t have Mother May I. When I first heard that song it blew my mind.
listening to SSTB this morning. The drums and bass are fantastically produced and mixed on this album. Also Delirium Trigger is GOAT.
I believe it's a non-SSTB bnand member on bass or drums for that song. I believe it's drums as the tones on that song are wildly different.
Nate did drums on 33 and Delirium Trigger, and they also had a different person (Todd Martin) record both of the songs too which is another reason they sound different
