I think Descension would have a solid shot at being my favorite if the arrangement on Iron Fist were stronger. I loved that song so much during those early solo acoustic performances and then they just did Too Much on the album version.
I'm not sure I've ever heard those versions but I've never really liked the song all that much compared to the rest of the album.
Everyone always bring up the live IF and I never heard it yet still love the album version. People get really invested in pre album hype then are set up for disappointment. Another example is Settle the Scar by The Hotelier.
Finished relistening and besides Island, Here To Mars, and PTTM, I'd say Atlas, You've Got Spirit, and The Audience are also highlights on Color.
now there, Settle the Scar Goodness version > Split version > early Live version. and I was at the show of the video that most people post for settle the scar lol
They had this arrangement during the acoustic set on the Neverender SSTB tour and I think Iron Fist sounded fantastic. I like it more than the album version.
I still have my files from the Atlanta Neverrender SSTB where the sold the USB drive with the files on it after the show. Iron Fist Neverrender acoustic superiority camp. When I heard the album version it was a big "look how they massacred my boy" moment. 2s My Favorite 1 is one of their best songs. I wish they would play a full band version of it. I know Claudio and wife did a duet acoustic one on one of the black card pre shows before. So glad I have got to hear Island, Peace To The Mountain, and Ghost all live. Big TCBTS supporter.
The Neverender lyric makes me think it will be a Neverender event of some sort more than something specifically SSTB. Announcements plural is also interesting.
Relistened to Afterman again today and does anyone else get an ominous feeling listening to the music box at the end of 2's My Favorite 1? Actually wish it would explode into the Coheed theme, but it never does.
