Per the Russians, something called "The Joke" is dropping on May 8th with this artwork. Anyone know about this?
It matches their timeline for releases, they like having a single out before going out on tour. Shoulders was out for almost a year before Vaxis II came out.
Where do we think the band will go next? Vaxis II was perfection of poppy Coheed, so I'm thinking something more experimental will be next
I’d like to see them get kind of wild this time, like picking up where A Window of the Waking Mind left off, but over the course of a whole album. I doubt it’ll happen though. Whoever the producer is will probably be a good indicator.
I just want 12 different versions of Gravesmakers and Gunslingers. Half kidding. That's my fav song from them tho.
No shame in that, Gravemakers rules, that “we’ll keep marching to the top of this tower” bridge into the solo is Coheed at their classic rock/metal influenced best
Relistening to NWFT for the first time again - album slaps, even if I think Vaxis II is a "better" version of this Coheed
I won't say better, but I love both, and I do think there is a linear path between the two of what I like for straightforward Coheed to sound like.
Definitely Kind of a weird tour lineup but I always wanted Marianas Trench and C&C to go on tour together, mainly since Coheed at their poppiest, and MT at their rockiest/"theatrical" remind me so much of each other and would be great to see them build onto each others sounds
I'd love for Coheed to go proggier on Vaxis III. Yes, they did it on TWOTWM title track, but bring on more consistent weirdness!
I don't know if the circles I run in, but I NEVER hear people say, "I want Coheed to go more straightforward and write an album full of pop bangers". It's always the opposite, that people want another 77 minute long prog fest.
That would be my wife's stance haha. She LOVES the Vaxis albums, but then I put on The Willing Wells or something from IKS and it's in one ear and out the other. She's onboard to always see them when they roll through Chicago, though, because she is obsessed with Claudio's voice. When we saw TWOTWM tour she goes "that might be the best rock concert I have ever seen."
It's zakk again so I'm hoping it can be another good blend like Vaxis 2 (the sunny side demo showed potential for faster/heavier while we know he can handle poppy stuff and the prog suite from WOTWM and ladders)
