Tethered Together just seems like the kind of song you would sing with an audience, it's catchy as hell, it goes hard, I have zero idea why it has yet to be an anthem.

Actually kinda bummed about that - it’s the same price as the regular edition and they have an entirely additional side of music on their pressing. Good for anyone who waited but I feel jipped

Yeah that’s a brighter song than I expect for a suite song, but it’s pretty good! Fits with both Afterman or Vaxis III.

EDIT: yeah I’m at the point with my vinyl collection that I don’t like having multiple variants of the same album, so I guess I’ll pick this deluxe version up and sell my normal one. Would’ve been cool to release it as a single sided LP, but oh well.

I pretty much stopped buying vinyl, so I never actually got the regular edition. This seems like a serendipitous way to remedy that.

Has this world stopped asking what it's thinking?

Second time the chorus hit a tear suddenly and violently erupted from my eye and ran down my cheek while I was waiting for the train this morning. Something about this band, man.

I do have questions about this though. Why now? Albums only been out 6 months. They just released the official video for Goodbye Sunshine. When were these songs written/recorded? Same sessions, intentionally held back for this, b-sides (they’d probably never admit it) or written later on? Why tack them onto the end of Vaxis III? Releasing them with a repress of The Afterman makes sense if it’s thematically tied more to that. The deluxe album art is exactly the same, and unfortunately, that makes it feel a little cash-grabby for me.

It's to keep the album cycle going and refresh the interest in Vaxis III. Not sure about the timing, but I think this is the first time they're doing it? It's become way more common for artists to do this nowadays though, and I appreciate that they're actually adding to the lore rather than doing stray b-sides or demo versions

I'm sure there's a cash grab element to it. I mean, the entire vinyl revival is kind of one big cash grab. It selects for the most hardcore fans who are often willing to buy high-margin items just to fill gaps in their collection... even multiple times, if there are staggered releases of increasingly more "complete" versions of an album. Part of me hates it, but another part can't blame artists that they're trying to compensate for traditional mass record sales having completely dried up 15 years ago.

As someone who doesn't care much about vinyl, I'm just glad we get the extra tracks. The production for this new one sounds identical to V3, so I'm guessing the new Key Entities were recorded within the past couple years... as opposed to coming out of a vault from the Afterman era.

The song sounds pretty identical sonically to everything on the last 2 records and thematically and structurally feels mostly the same as well so if I had to guess these are just B-sides retrofitted to The Afterman storyline for added intrigue. Still love the band still probably gonna love the songs (definitely love this one) but it does seem a tiny bit cynical to me

Same, I really don't get WHY because it hasn't been even a year lol. Afterman reissue makes so much more sense (which I still believe they're doing 100%).

I mean yeah... It's a little cash-grabby. I think they found a creative way to make money off of b-sides.

That being said... I still want it, so...

Also, on the other side of the coin,... How many fans have expressed disappointment that b-sides like Hush and Carol Ann never got full band arrangements?... They could just be listening to their hardcore fans and trying to give them what they want.

This is neither here nor there and again, I like all of these songs, but Claudio has fallen back a little too hard on entering the last chorus whisper quiet and then reintroducing the rest of the band. Rise Naianasha, A Disappearing Act, Blood, The Joke, Goodbye Sunshine, Meri of Mercy, this new song on the last two albums alone. Am I missing any lol

We reach for the longest shadow

    Spoiler alert:

Melvin and Shiloh are in the same 3:50ish range, but Peter (wtf with these titles, hahaha) is 6:28 long.

18:04 total, which brings the total runtime to 75:31. Should’ve known it wouldn’t have pushed it over 80 minutes if they put it all on a CD.

Which moment in Coheed’s discog would benefit the best from a Josh Scogin feature? I’m going with the screams in Play the Poet.
