It’s growing on me every play-through. There are a few low spots, but it’s there’s great variation and lots of highs.

 

On my first play through.

Just got to the title track. So let’s get it.

 

First listen in the books.

Very enjoyable experience, basically from top to bottom. I can’t say that I get the Afterman 3 comparisons, but for the few obvious callbacks it wasn’t sonically a record I’d compare to Afterman. Having just listened to Vaxis 2, that’s the closest touchstone I could point to as a whole.

Lyrically/story wise, no idea. I still have no idea what the C&C story is about. At this point, more than two decades in, I’m actively avoiding learning anything more than “it’s a sci-fi story.” I’m just here for the bops and riffs.

Beyond that, what is there to say? These guys make rock solid records. It’s just in their DNA at this point.

Alright, so hear me out: neverender but a greatest hits from this album and Afterman, like they did NWFT and Vaxis II.

 

I’m dying for an Afterman Neverender. Was in a really awful spot in my life when those albums came out and I missed all the tours for it and have only seen like 2 total songs from them.

 

Also I really need a Descension repress, only album I’m missing.

They need to represss Afterman, full stop. It’s my constant refrain in the vinyl thread.

 

I have both, as well as YOTBR, but theres gotta be some hold up with the rights, otherwise they surely would’ve done it by now.

 

I just don’t see what that could be for Afterman. I was under the impression they put it out on their own label/imprint.

 

They did, Evil Ink. I wondered if they signed some sort of physical distribution deal that is now causing a hangup.

also I’m just now realizing this wasn’t released on Roadrunner. Just says, “released by Coheed and Cambria”. They might be totally independent again. Good for them.

 

The only answer that makes sense to me is that the band hates me, specifically, and never wants me to be happy.

 

It’s released and managed through Virgin Music. They’re an independent shop, owned and funded by UMG

I think this is my favorite thing they’ve done since IKSSE3.
