We reach for the longest shadow

I was going to wait until I finished my first listen to say anything, but Play the Poet is the first song they’ve had in a loooooooong time where I had no idea what was happening or what was coming next. Very cool.

Play the poet isn’t bad but the verses aren’t it

Reading first impressions all day did not prepare me for Tethered Together, holy heck. That chorus is amazing.

Production nerds: does Claudio employ auto-tune / pitch correction? On this album and the last I've been getting that impression but it might be a quirk of production/mastering my ears take that way.

Definitely, and I don’t think he’s trying to hide it.

So It Goes is… not my favorite on first listen. Pretelethal throwback at the end was sick though.
overall my first listen was very positive. Felt all over the place, but in a good way. Father of Make Believe, Play the Poet, and The Continuum I-III were my initial favorites, but there’s not a weak link IMO.

Good to have some confirmation - it doesn't spoil my enjoyment, but there's definitely a qualitative difference in my mind I can't help....the same way I appreciate well-executed CGI but I adore good practical effects if that makes sense

ok they were sickos for releasing "blind side sonny" instead of "play the poet"

I don't know if this adds to it, but the digital release is lossy

  18. Literally every album of theirs from day one on has it on there.

Ok this was worth the wait. I enjoyed every track, can't wait to spend more time with it. So It Goes seems a little divisive but I loved it. Sounded not unlike The Dear Hunter, which is up my alley

A major record label album not having pitch correction is rare nowadays.

Does anybody even NOT use it to some extent anymore? I get the impression that at least some small pitch tweaking is a given in every production, just like any other tool used.

Had a very positive first listen of this, can't wait to get to know this album during the weekend.

Edit: Guess I can keep this 20 year old tattoo a little longer, hahah.
