Yeah that’s probably it. Honestly I’m surprised A Disappearing Act is so polarizing when Number City is out there. Great song.

When NWFT dropped I couldn’t believe the hate running free and feathers got, both are top tier straightforward pop coheed songs

Very casual chowed fan here fyi…I Just ran through a few of these tracks on YouTube and yeah I really dig the sound on A Disappearing Act. Fun little jam to listen to. Lots of 80s vibes in a lot of the tracks I listened to tbh, I liked it. Might have to pick this up

NWFT as a whole was maligned because it wasn’t GA:II in the way everyone wanted it to be, me included. I was definitely let down by the lack of a Willing Well pt. 2, but it’s probably the album that I’ve changed my opinion on most over the years.

Album fucking rules. Most I’ve liked a coheed album since NWFT.

Really hope they play a good portion of this on the tour. Can’t wait to see these songs rip live.

My biggest complaint about NWFT at this point is I don’t think it sticks the landing with The Road & The Damned and especially On The Brink. I think it’s a really good album up until then, but those two songs have always been among the most forgettable to me and I can’t stop cringing during On The Brink. It just doesn’t work for me, which sucks considering it’s the closer. Had the album just ended with The End Complete, I would have been very happy with the album as a whole.

Interesting you mention On The Brink because multiple songs on Vaxis II actually remind me of it melody wise.

Yeah, how an album starts and ends has a big impact on my initial impressions. Through different points in their career, I feel like they've thought, "well, we gotta have a proggy song *here*", and that's what On the Brink sounds like, Final Cut callback and all. I like The Road and the Damned though. Would've been a good penultimate song if On the Brink stuck the landing.

Yeah I was replaying On the Brink in my head and was very confused when I read that, haha

EDIT: I will commend Claudio for trying some new stuff with his vocals on that song, don't think he's ever tried to sing in that... bluesy? style again (forgive me if that's not the correct description).

It’s the heavy part in On The Brink with the chants and that scream that don’t work for me, which is strange because usually I’m all about the chanting, but I think that song, as a whole, has just never grabbed me

I’m doing a discog run this week though so I’m looking forward to getting to that album and seeing how I feel about it more than a year later since my last listen to it

Might be a hot take but I feel like the production from GA1 to GA2 was a huge step down. GA1 was such a beast, so much going on and polished, GA2 felt way less polished to me.

I totally agree. GA:1 was with the same team as IKS but with a maxed out budget. NWFT was with Nick Raskulinecz. A LOT of people hate the work he's done with otherwise good bands, but I don't think he ruined NWFT by any means. It's definitely not as good as GA:1, but GA:1 is probably my favorite sounding album ever from a production standpoint (I mean, it's my favorite album ever).

Agreed. Great album but just lacks in production a bit. So far all of the Vaxis albums have sounded huge.

My vinyl copy arrived yesterday and it’s real pretty. All of the artwork is phenomenal. I ordered vaxis 1 from Discogs which should arrive any day now as well

The more I think about it, I really do feel like this is a modern day NWFT. Same amount of tracks, similar runtime, more straightforward than previous efforts, and if you think of the last 4 songs here as a "suite" it follows a similar flow as NWFT too.
