I'm convinced that this remix thing is the beginning of a new album cycle rather than the only thing they are releasing. They've talked for a while about having lots of material done.
Something interesting to note, they're no longer listed as an artist on the Roadrunner Records website
I thought Roadrunner Records secretly shut down during Covid, dropped every act outside of Turnstile and Slipknot and has been a shell ever since.
Code Orange: “Listen to what we do, look at what we do –… | Kerrang! Some details on the new release.
I feel like this band tries so hard to be the most serious, thought-provoking band in the world then they get Beans to record a promo for them like this, hahahaha
I this is pretty great. A lot of the tracks remind me of the old NIN cd singles I used to get. Cant wait to hear what they have coming next. Did anyone else get the free tshirt?
Yeah the first song is not great. We'll see how far I make it into this. EDIT: 4 songs, then skimmed the rest. No thanks.
I don't the replay value is here for me but it sounds great on headphones. I think the thing I get hung up on with this is that Underneath is so damn good that it just makes me want to spin that instead. That said, can't knock a band for doing something semi-different. Prismatic Shame is a pretty rad variation though.
Much like Under the Skin, I don't see myself going back to it often, but the attention to detail is really second to none with this band. The motifs and callbacks are well utilized. You could criticize this band for a few things but ambition/drive is not one of them. EDIT: also agree with the above that it's a great headphone listen
Bummer. Woke up and saw there was a new Code Orange record only to hit play and realize it was just a Vampire club remix album
