Yeah I don’t think this is for me. Bummer. Will give it another listen at some point.

 

Got to listen to 10 songs on the way to work so far, I'm digging it! I actually think the first two songs might be the weakest so far, and I wish The Mask of Sanity Slips had a better chorus, just repeating the title for it kind of lessens the impact of how cool I think the title is. But Mirror - Grooming My Replacement have been top tier, I Fly is a big surprise standout for me for songs not released as singles.

 

Yeah as a huge fan of Underneath, and even some of the more melodic moments, this one isn't doing a lot for me through the first half.

my partner and i really liked Underneath, but i just know he's gonna hate this, lmao

 

I don't want to hate on it too hard without finishing it, but the alt influence is basically all the things I don't like about 90s alt rock and none of the good parts.

 

Snapshot is the kid of melodic songs I like, fast and driving with some fun trade off of vocals. Feels like Reba hits way more often than misses on this album.

EDIT: I think I’ve figured it out. I like Jami’s harsh vocals, but him trying to do his alt rock singing voice rarely works for me, and I would 1000% rather Reba just sing.

 

I knew going in that this probably wouldn't be up my alley, but at least I gave it a try.

 

A whole album of only Reba doing vocals next please

 

Im enjoying this way more than I expected so far.

 

I am comparing it to the recent Corey Taylor solo albums: there is a lot going on and I can trim the fat and make a really decent LP/EP from the songs I enjoy but overall I am enjoying a majority of it.

vinyl just showed up. for those wanting to hear the vinyl only intro, (found footage), it's mostly the same audio that plays at the beginning of the Take Shape video.

 

I'd be all over a new Adventures record

 

quick pic of the Spread Your Wings variant. also grabbed the Sulfur and Acid Rain variant of Underneath, which came pretty warped, but plays well with a record weight. just wish it was flatter, so i might try the heavy book method if necessary (their online store doesn't accept returns/exchanges/refunds unless the product is defective, and even if they accepted it, this variant is now sold out).

 

This is so good

 

impressed with the sound quality on the vinyl so far, considering that side A is around 24 minutes long and side B is nearly 28.

This one is kinda warped :( still plays tho with the weight

my copy of The Above is perfectly flat, so it might be a shipping thing for particular vendors.
