You should get back on that right away. I think you could arguably cut off one or two songs from Underneath — I don't think the second half is quite as vital as the first, strong as it is — but that record rules. I thought it was going to be a genre-defining record, which hasn't turned out the case, but it still thrills me.
still waiting on mine. ordered the Spread Your Wings variant (although it might be taking a bit since i also picked up Underneath since i didn't have it yet).
I ordered both the picture disk and artificial paradise but no shipping label yet. If there’s anything I’ve learned since 2020, it’s patience with preorders.
Just wanna say before we all embark on this crazy musical adventure that I really appreciate the quality of Code Orange’s vinyl packaging. I know they’re a pretty DIY band and I adore the fact that they refuse to cut corners when it comes to design, amount of content, and production value. It’s becoming rarer in my opinion and a better effort deserves to be highlighted and praised.
i asked on IG a while back how the hell they plan on fitting 51 minutes (plus a vinyl only track) on a single LP, and they just replied with "it fits", so... sure, i guess? if you can make a 28 minute B-side sound good, go for it. still excited to get it in.
The atmosphere on this thing. I'm only halfway through. The hook on The Mask Of Sanity Slips is so simple and dumb, and I love the hell out of it. The same with a certain moment on A Drone Opting Out of the Hive...you'll know it when you hear it.
gonna save my first listen for tomorrow when the vinyl shows up (the benefits of living in central PA, i guess). excited to see what they've done!
changed my mind and finishing my first listen now. this one might have to grow on me a bit, but i really do like what i'm hearing.
Just finished first listen. Certainly a lot to take in. Not sure how I feel yet but liked a bunch of it.
It's a challenging listen, that's for sure. I remember having to digest Underneath for awhile too, but when it clicked - it clicked hard. I prefer being challenged than being left bored so I'll take it.
