It's okay. Made me want to spin Yuth Forever's most recent instead of playing the album again. I think there are other more extreme bands that have been executing a similar sound very well for a while. It's good that these guys are getting some publicity though.
This album is fucking ridiculous and a little bit terrifying. I'm afraid if I play it too late at night I might summon a demon. It's not just heaviness, too, it's such a sinister-sounding and menacing record.
There is a lot of weird hate for them. Is it because they adjust their sound each album or other reasons?
I thought for sure this band would go down the "cheesy" route after I Am King, but nope. Pretty impressed by there ability to push the envelope.
The part in Hurt Goes On when the band really kicks it into gear is so satisfying. Also I'm a little impressed by how well they make Bleeding in the Blur work, that's probably my favorite on here as of right now.
Spy is one of my favorites right now. Love how the song settles into a groove and immediately starts lurching forward
I didn't see myself re-listening to it that much after the first listen, but shit, I really do love that song.
For me personally, hate is a strong word - I just think there are other metal/hardcore bands that have similar sounds that I enjoy more that I've talked about earlier in this thread. It's a case of personal taste. The new record is okay. A few decent tracks on there, but I can't get into the industrial or grunge style tracks at all.
Damn the industrial and grunge bits are what make this so dark and interesting. It's not just a run of the mill hardcore record
I like the industrial/grunge parts but sometimes when the track just cuts and jumps to something totally different, it's kinda jarring. I know that's the point, but it kinda takes me out of some of it. That being said, most of this works really well. Ugly and Spy are early favorites.
Some of the "new" things they're trying to do on this album sound like Meshuggah samples crammed in between Gaza breakdowns. The part where he screams "This is real now, motherfucker" made me laugh. It's a good album, definitely some songs i'd jam. Just don't think it's amazing or any better than the previous albums.
Show was fun. Crowd was kinda mehh most of the time. Youth Code fucking killed. Had never heard of them before. Definitely check them out. To my memory, the set was really Forever heavy. A few from I Am King, some songs I didn't know. And of course ended with "My World". They've also got a third guitarist out there. But someone seriously needs to rip that cassette they were playing the whole night. That was damn good.
Unfortunately, this tour's not coming through Dallas but I'll definitely check out Youth Code's album(s).
