It’s wild how much success they’re having but they absolutely deserve it with all the work they put in.
I do like this band a lot, what I don't get though is why is it this band that's seeing all this success? Why are they the only band from the hardcore scene that are getting nominated for a Grammy?
Promotion. Code Orange got a lot of coverage in magazines and other music outlets not many Hardcore bands reach. Also, their new album is much less thrash and easily approachable than previous releases.
Yeah I get that. I just would never have expected a band with songs like Real to get this much mainstream success. They were so out of place on that Rolling Stone list, why aren't other hardcore bands on there? It just makes me think it's out of obligation.
Could definitely be obligation. Maybe even a few small strings being pulled behind the scenes? Somebody knows somebody and got it to the right desk? Idk. Regardless of my opinion on the music itself, it’s cool to see them get this attention.
Oh I defintely think it's cool that a band like them is getting the attention, I just think it's weird that it's only them that's getting it. If it was a band like Turnstile that was then I'd get it.
Likewise! But I feel as though even if Turnstile is killing it right now, their style of hardcore/punk isn’t what’s big right now.
Id guess that’s a matter of opinion really. I love Turnstile, but I have friends who don’t like that sound at all.
It is pretty crazy that I used to see Code Orange play shows for 30 people in a tiny venue in Ashtabula and now they are nominated for a Grammy. Good for them.
Their next tour here is mostly so stacked(with Power Trip and Venom Prison) but it's unfortunately supporting Trivium lol. I'd rather see that tour with Code Orange headlining in an 800 capacity venue than go to that Trivium tour in an awful 5000 capacity venue.
Roadrunner has been great at promoting their new bands recently(Creeper have also benefitted heavily) but then Turnstile is also on Roadrunner lol
Trivium were one Of The first heavy bands that I liked, I just don't really care for their music any more or want to go to a show with their fans
Turnstile actually had way better social numbers last time I checked. Roadrunner is doing an excellent job on both imo. Also Bleeding in the Blur is a huge smash.
Turnstile was doing great before Roadrunner though. I haven't heard much since they signed with them. Their new single was underhyped.
