Did Kanye pull out last minute??

 

The thing with the JT rescheduling is that 2 of those dates were for LA/Anaheim. Originally those shows were fine because they were supposed to be in November and were outside of the radius clause (I think they can't perform in the area between January and June). He had to reschedule them and there was no way he could do them before January, and it would've been fucked up to make those ticket buyers wait until June/July just so he could play a festival in the area.

 

No one really knows, but that's what the speculation is

 

So, Alex from Concequence of Sound is usually very reliable. He says that he got a text this morning about Kanye being out, so it was late minute. He also mentions that there are always contingency plans in place, and stuff like this happens more often than anyone knows, so there is nothing to worry about.

 

in 2012 Black Sabbath backed out like the day before the lineup was supposed to be announcement and they were able to find The Black Keys in time. In 2017 Beyonce dropped out and Lady Gaga was announced as a replacement like 2 days later.
Everyone wants to headline Coachella, they'll find someone to replace him before the sun goes down.

 

In 2008 Portishead were announced as headliners due to Prince having to drop out after a surgery. Turns out he was healed in time to play, so he was re-added as headliner. Anything can happen!

JT could be the Sunday headliner technically, but I'd be surprised.

Conspiracy theory: Kanye backed out a LONG time ago, and today Goldenvoice told TMZ via a "leak" that it happened so they could drum up excitement for today's drop

 

Could’ve sworn they have some small differences but nvm then. I guess that’s only ACL.

 

Much smaller bands have had some differences due to visa issues, sickness, things like that... but not notable upper level artists. The only slight difference over the last few years was The Stone Roses and Blur co-headlining and switching who played first
