Defintely not out. My guess is that Goldenvoice likely has feelers out to many artists to keep that time open, even if they are backup choices. There have been so many dropouts and last minute swaps, they need options.

 

There’s never been an artist with a LN tour upcoming that has headlined Coachella. Dua provides no buzz for them, she’s be supporting a year old project that made no dent in the pop landscape in North America.

They’ll be much much eager to go after Rihanna, Karol G, Gaga, etc.

 

Yeah she’s a possibility if someone drops out last second again, but as it is I’d say they’re probably looking at different headliners right now

I wonder if they would ask Katy Perry to headline. She's never performed there aside from 1-2 appearances. Would be a big nostalgia boost as well.

Her time has passed. Her star isn't as bright anymore

 

I thought this year would be Katy’s come back but then she started releasing her new songs and I realized there will never be a Katy comeback. Coachella would get absolutely flamed if they booked her.

 

What pop stars are left to headline that never have? Rihanna, Olivia, Miley, Ed Sheeran, who else? Anyone?

The pivot from legacy headliner, to indie/alt/hip hop powerhouses, to pop stars has been truly wild at Coachella.

If you told people 25yrs that the same festival that was created to escape the shallow pop scene of the late 90s would then embrace it decades later, they’d be like no chance.

The Coachella stream is INCREDIBLE but the advent of that really turned this fest into a pop showcase on a global scale, for better or worse.

absolutely, just interesting to look back and see what it began as. as long as they continue to put focus on their euro electronic/techno bookings, I’ll keep going. Only pop headliner I’ve caught on the main stage was Beyoncé.

never get rid of the yuma, and quasar was such a fun addition last year too.

 

She's not a pop star but I could definitely see Phoebe Bridgers headline the main stage at some point on her next album cycle

 

Considering how poorly her new music has been received, I doubt it

 

for pop headliners I have seen Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, billie eilish, The Weekend (if he counts), and about 5 songs of Lady Gaga before I bailed

 

It’s also just music journalism currently. They give credibility to these artists whether or not they’re meticulously involved in the process.
