It placed me in a queue to watch. Position 907,467 out of 8,528,024. Damn. Got ya. I pulled a Cameroon
I’m watching now they are freaking out if they disappeared the earth or shot across the galaxy but never mention the moon? Also, this looks pretty cheap.
Just finished and, uh...yikes It was mostly fine, I guess. Reminded me a lot of Sunshine except not nearly as good and with a completely extraneous Cloverfield subplot. But man oh man that ending just made it clear how much the Cloverfield stuff was shoehorned into the movie. They clearly just filmed a few extra scenes with Hamilton's husband, digitally changed the name of the station to Cloverfield, ADR'd like one quick line about how the collider could result in monsters (with Suzanne Cryer and Donal Logue for some reason?), and then threw in a quick shot of a monster at the end. The integration of Cloverfield into 10 Cloverfield Lane wasn't exactly smooth but it was a hell of a lot better than how it's integrated here.
lol this was fine, glad they didn't feel the need to try and tie it back into the first film at all like it seemed. That was a total misdirect, which I enjoyed. It wound up being a not bad sci-fi thriller with some multiverse stuff thrown in. The actors were all good and for what I assume was a low-budget, the effects weren't bad either. Anyone that needs to have these films connect in any way is going to wind up being disappointed, that's pretty much confirmed at this point. They're all going to be movies that didn't start out having anything to do with the Cloverfield brand and had some re-working done to fit them in. If that's going to keep bothering people, this might be a good time to check out.
Definitely my least fav Cloverfield movie, BUT I do like the idea of how the monster came from a inter dimensional tear? I think?
Here’s the question i kept asking my girlfriend: are they slowly building a massive universe that’s only going to make sense in ten years when it’s done? Or are they just making a lazy universe?”
I don't think this has anything to do with the first one. That monster seemed way bigger than the first one's monster and also there were more than one of them. Pretty sure that this is a different universe from the first movie.
Ok finished now I’m confused. People saw multiple monsters? Also what was the deal at the end I couldn’t figure out what they were saying? He didn’t want to tell them not to come back cuz why?
He didn't want them to come back because there were monsters all over the world and Ava was safer on the station.
The anthology thing is just kind of a bullshit explanation for what they're doing, which is taking completed movies and going "huh this is going to be hard to sell to audiences" and retrofitting it to have some Cloverfield stuff in it so it has a marketing hook. It worked for 10CL because it was a well-written movie with interesting characters whereas this is a belligerently dull slog that occasionally features some scenes that are vaguely reminiscent of Cloverfield. If these movies had set out to be Cloverfield movies from the start, I would have a different opinion but as of now they're just a movie studio trying to increase profits on a movie they thought would bomb. It's a business decision, not a creative decision.
