As someone who loved all their releases before this, including Pink Lemonade, this is phenomenal. They got the balance just right of all the different parts of their sound along with plenty of new ideas, and imo made their best work so far.
Hey this is my review thanks for reading even if you found it too hype-y. I won’t try to pretend I’m not a huge fan of this band, but I really thought this album delivered and I’m glad others agree so far.
Nice! Well after listening, I’d say it deserves the hype, so kudos. I’ll need to go back and read it now that I have an idea of what the songs sound like.
I’d say the run from Keeper of the Lake to Soft Hell is so damn great but as I listened to the full album on my drive this morning, the whole thing is jam after jam. Holy Rush is the only meh song for me but I’m sure that’ll change. Love it and stoked for the band. Can’t wait to see them in February
Yeah no real misses for me, other than wanting to skip the closer just to get Jaeger Bomb again. The 5 song run from Holy Rush to Soft Hell is definitely the highlight for me, but I really do think I love the whole thing.
Jaeger Bomb is such a great opener. I echo wanting to speed up the closer to get back to that ripper of a track.
There are periods of this that feel like jamiroquai / kaddisfly mixed together. Not a bad thing. Definitely better than pink lemonade but need more listens to figure out how much I like this. Title track is so so good.
Some of the leads here remind me of Polyphia back when they actually had catchy riffs instead of going totally virtuosic.
This is really good but I wish there was more high energy proggy jams. A lot of ballads and slick pop songs
haven't listened to these guys in forever but I'm a Pink Lemonade enjoyer. hopefully I enjoy this one too
instrumentally this is tight as hell but the lyrics and vocals feel a lot weaker than they used to. never wanna hear the phrase 'discord kitten' in music literally ever again
agreed, but I didn't like PL after being head over heels for FT. I love this so much, been jamming it all weekend.
Listened to this a few times now and while I love the majority of it, I do think it dies out near the end. Not sure if this will be my favorite record of theirs, but I do think I’ll be jamming on a good chunk of these songs for a long time Pink Lemonade is my favorite record of theirs
It feels its length at times but I can’t lie, I had a blast during my listen yesterday. Absolute Terror Field, Better Way, Don Juant Triumphant and Lovelash stood out a lot. Quite surprised I gravitated towards the mellow-ish songs the most because it wasn’t necessarily what I was expecting going into it. Smooth vocals, pristine guitar tones, tasty grooves, the right amount of twists and turns… I couldn’t ask for more.
Oh man I haven’t listened to these since First Temple. Just thrown TP&TP on, might listen to this later this morning
