I don’t need a Clipse record with a John Legend hook or choirs but I like the production on this mostly. the “this is culturally inappropriate” tag is super annoying, if you’re gonna have mixtape tags you gotta put that shit everywhere and not just excessively on 2-3 songs This record is good!
So I did not hear the original So Be It, and I guess when I listened this morning, I was really listening to the new version? I really like the new version, but is Apple Music going to update to the original eventually? I want to keep both versions, so good.
For some reason the clean version has the OG version and I’ve seen some people say their explicit is updated too but mine isn’t yet
It just doesn’t fit with the majority of the album. It’s not bad, it’s just bland whereas pretty much everything else slaps.
I think the song is an incredible tribute to their parents, sharing how incredibly difficult it was to lose them in the same month. I don’t think “fit” comes into play in this case. I also don’t think they went to Pharrell and said “Cook us up the most wild beat you have for this one”, for good reason.
It’s obviously a very personal song and all and they’re not gonna be spitting the subject matter over a minimalist beat or anything. But the beat they did choose is lacking anything memorable and effects the start of the album for me.
I can see that. But also it’s a song that picks up where they left off at explains why they reunited. Feel like it’s the perfect way to start the album.
first song is like instantly one of the best I've heard all year, what's up with the John Legend hate in here lol
