Just caught this again with VOD after not enjoying it in theaters. I will say I enjoyed this much more the second time around. The Randall/ Dante relationship is the only thing that keeps the flick going. Possibly Jay and Silent Bob's least funny flick. My biggest complaint still is Ellias. I think its a great idea that he becomes a satan worshiper now, but the constant costume changes is just dumb and added nothing. And his "silent bob" blockchain added absolutely nothing. I get it Kevin, you wanted to include your daughters boyfriend, but come on. Also, the halloween costume nurse was just dumb. Best scene of entire movie and possible series is the last 20 minutes of this flick.
Finally watched this over the weekend and I really enjoyed it! That said, I can’t imagine liking it if I weren’t a big Kevin Smith fan. It’s so based in meta humour that it does nothing to stand on its own.
I wouldnt go that far. I hated Clerks 3 at the theater, but at home Ive watched it like 3 times and now love it. But its still no Clerks 2. Clerks 3 has more heart, but Clerks 2 has more humor. Elias in Clerks 2 is amazing, but absolutely ruins Clerks 3.
The last 30 minutes of this movie are fucking BAFFLING. Dante's death, the funeral, the absolutely insane and abrupt Pearl Jam song. It was like seeing a movie for the first time, nothing made sense
Yeah, this movie is a mess. The last 30 minutes are nice and you can tell Kevin wrote that WAY before he planned on finishing the rest of the film, but it's so scattershot and all over the place.
As someone who disliked the direction of Clerks 3, I hope he releases the original script table reads they did.
Lol I still haven't watched this and as a normally anti-spoiler person I don't even care that I just found this out. At this point I think I'd rather keep Clerks 2 as my leaving off point based on Reboot's quality
Yeah I’m incredibly spoiler adverse but if you’re in a movie thread 7 months after it came out i don’t think you can cry spoiler
In the trailer for the new Kevin Smith movie, The 4:30 Movie, it says “from Kevin Smith, the creator of Clerks, Mallrats, Clerks II, Jay & Silent Bob, Clerks III, and probably Clerks IV” I don’t know wtf 4 could even be or if it’s to be taken seriously at all but uh, definitely sounds like it’s on his mind
I noticed that too, but I think it was more so a joke as in he just continues to make his same old franchise movies
I'd love a new Clerks with completely new characters and a modern setting. Like an actual reboot. But he doesn't live that life at all anymore. A new filmmaker could make a great movie in the Clerks style now and find a lot of success IMO.
He posted a video of himself crying after seeing one of the Avengers movies I think. Which, not to make excuses for because it is incredibly cringe and those movies stink, but also I kind of get it if comics books have been THAT MUCH of someone's life for such a long time. Something like Endgame is absolutely a feat, for better or worse. I just live on an entirely different planet when it comes to film interests.
