tldl Gravity’s Union He talks about it first and at greatest length — the raw demo vocals, the specific gear he used the day he wrote it, his fear of driving, and losing his uncle. The Liars Club He explicitly calls it a fan favorite that “goes off insane” live and is surprised a 25-year-old band can still have a new song hit that hard. Welcome Home Described as a furious love/heartbreak song that’s really about a devastating breakup he went through when he was younger. Everything Evil He highlights it as the “wacky” song from the first record that made them stand out and feel unique. Atlas A deeply personal song he wrote for his son Atlas before he was born; he says it’s so emotional they’ve only played it live once.
THANK YOU. I know I’m getting old because I fucking hate watching a ten minute video that could have been a nice article.
agree, also liars club is a total banger. I have so many memories of putting in the second statge turbine blade when it came out in the early 2000's that was a lifetime ago.
I remember buying the CD after listening to just one song, way back to the pre-streaming days when buying an album was a gamble because you didn't know what they actually sounded like. They've been my favourite band ever since.
Love the nod to the early days with Everything Evil! I saw them at least 5 times on that album cycle- and most of them at the fireside bowl in Chicago- definitely a lifetime ago
It's crazy to know it's also Geoff Rickly's favourite song and that they all ended up playing together some twenty years later.
