Was surprised there was no thread for this era of music! Grew up on classic rock (as I'm sure many on this forum have) and it very much shaped my music taste today. I love coming across old random songs I forgot about and figured this could be a good thread to discuss favorite bands and post random favorite songs that hold a special place in your heart.

I'll start, this one came on at a restaurant a few weeks ago and I have been playing it almost daily.

Bumping this because I assumed there was no Classic Rock Thread and was about to make one myself. As I get older Pre-Punk Rock is most of what I have been listening to.

Bruce rules. CCR rules. The Allman Brothers Band rules. The Band rules. Warren Zevon rules. Fleetwood Mac rules. Steely Dan rules.

Not a fan at all of : The Doors, Lynard Skynard, Aerosmith

Why Dickey Betts Was the Last 'Ramblin' Man'

Allman Brothers Band was something else for those 4/5 first albums. Here's a recent write up from Rolling Stone following the death of Dicky Betts. Managed to catch Gregg Allman solo here in the UK around 2010 which I'm grateful for.

Definitely prefer them to Lynyrd these days when I'm listening to anything 'southern'.

Never could get into The Doors, either. I have been known to throw on some Skynyrd and Aerosmith from time to time, though. Skynyrd more than Aerosmith

Doors good, LA Woman good. Contrary to middle school opinions, Jim Morrison’s lyrics are also good

Aerosmith also good. Rocks is riff city

Dickey Betts is a guitar triumph

My label did a cool 2CD set with him a while back: https://tidal.com/album/179015132?u

For reasons totally unrelated to his death, I gotta come up with a sequence for a vinyl version this week, I dunno what to cut.

There’s an amazing 30 min version of Elizabeth Reed I can’t bear to lose, I was thinkin it might be fun to bundle a bonus CD of just that song with the vinyl or somethin

His voice kinda went over the years, but his playing kept on truckin
