You make a Broken Social Scene reference you’re going to have my attention. The songs being great helps as well.
I shouldn’t mock, that very clearly reads like the ramblings of someone in the midst of a mental break (who is also a bad writer)
that person has continued to write clearly disturbed ramblings on twitter. pretty concerning. anyway the album is awesome
Album is so fucking good. It might be the BSS reference but this reminds me of BSS at their quietest, like a pared down Anthems for a 17 Year Old Girl.
haven't listened to enough of her but I like what I've heard. I'll be sure to check this out today. sad about the weird profile. the writer is clearly having a public manic episode. there are over a dozen tweets in the last hour alone, all in the same hyper / crazed tone.
Alex G also a clear influence here. That dude is everywhere. claire feels like an obvious future collaborator of Jane Schoenbrun, first thing I did was see if she was on the I Saw the TV Glow comp. Beautiful stuff. there’s also a lot of space here, it’s expansive, I thought a lot about Explosions in the Sky’s Friday Night Lights OST while listening to this.
The instrumentals on this album kick ass, which of course is no surprise since she's been making tons of ambient music for a while, but still it is very good.
She’s playing Sleeping Village on May 1. Unfortunately I’m in the thick of kids sports and Wednesdays are slammed.
This album rules, I'm no longer on twitter/x so I completely missed that horrifying interview saga, I hope claire is doing as okay as she can
She has a massive back catalogue of albums, EPs, collaborations, demos, etc. that are also worth checking out.
