This song is bonkers lol. Will take some getting used to but it's a welcome change of pace (and I actually love As You Please)
Last night when I first played the song I wasn’t 100% sure how I felt, I didn’t have a sound expectation in my head for it but I felt like it was another venture left. Mid-way through I was into it and I played it twice more this morning before going to the doctor. Can’t wait to hear all the songs. Oh I didn’t think so at all. I just thought it was such a ridiculous statement to make that I had to post about it. He’s one of those people who’s always trying to reach for something that isn’t there because I think he feels like it makes him feel like he’s deeply informed or knowledgeable or something.
Name of the song is kinda dumb. Not sure how it relates to the lyrics. Twitter thinks it's a threat of some kind.
this record is wild - if you thought the single was out there just wait till you hear the opening track
Having listened a second time I’m definitely into the song. I haven’t been a big Ciz fan in a while and it’d be cool if this record brought me back in
Snagged the cloudy blue vinyl and a t-shirt, how did I spend $56 on this band? I considered getting the bundle with AYP on vinyl as well but it only offered the galaxy of the new album and I wanted that blue.
I can't tell how I feel about this. Stoked about the album announcement, as Everybody Is Going To Heaven is an exceptional album and As You Please is also very good (weird comparison but it kinda reminds me of a darker Bleed American???), but there's something about the pre-chorus/chorus that feels kinda off. I guess it wasn't the song that I expected coming from them, but that's okay. Gonna keep my eyes on this though and keep listening to the single in hopes it rubs off on me!
Yeah, sorry to add to the Drew hype but this album is NUTS lol. Fans of the single are gonna be pleased.
1 ticket for the hype train please. I think the last album I really loved start to finish by them was Youth, but this has definitely reignited my interest in them.
IWTKY has been on repeat since it was released. Super hyped on this album. I’m also soooo glad the band decided to break with Yip. From what I’ve heard, they’re paving their own path into uncharted territory when left to their own devices. I’m about it.
I know a lot of people here are not a fan of Yip’s work (I personally don’t get it most of the time) and probably happy about this break too - but I worry a little. I love the new single but I do think the overall production is lacking in some ways between drum tones, chorus not being as charging as it should be, etc. Regardless, I’m excited to hear what Matt’s done when the full record is out.
anyone here sign up for the Ciz Society preorder option? if so, do we know when the first box is shipping out?
As far as tone and such goes, I like Yips style there. Sometimes he buries his vocals in mixes but it really just depends on how you’re listening. I digress. As a producer, it seems like a lot of his bands hit a low ceiling. Like, I think if Turnover worked with someone else, they’d be able to grow a lot more. And I think circa survive definitely plateaued after a few Yip releases. Mewithoutyou (one of my all time favorite bands who I think could do no wrong) experienced this too with their last two releases. Long story short, I think he’s a much better engineer than producer. Code Orange might be the exception.
