At the very least, they're still commenting and reposting each other's Instagram posts, so that feels very supportive regardless of romantic relationship
He's followed it up already - no more albums, meaning releases in the form of smaller batches, probably simillar with Circa now.
Well, Circa already did the EP and started operating that way - with an assumption of lots of songs from a bigger bunch getting lost in the abundance of material. To me it's much worse, seeing as I love album formats and spend a lot of time with them, but I get it.
EP’s with a lot of thought and effort put into them are fine by me, appendage and the new one are fucking phenomenal. Burial hasn’t put out an album since what, 2008, and the vast majority of his best material are on the EP’s he released between 2011-2015
I hate EPs/singles, I much prefer full albums. I know that's weird, but it's just how I listen to music most of the time.
Just make it the length it needs to be. I'd rather something like A Dream About Love just be six songs that all fit a common theme rather than trying to add 2-4 more to make it an album. It's creatively freeing in the same way that an episode of tv doesn't have to fit into 30 minute time blocks now because of streaming. I do love the experience of listening to a full album, but at the end of the day I just want good music.
Good 5-6 track EPs are fine by me, especially if we get them twice as often. Singles or really small batch releases would be disappointing if things trend that way, tho.
this is dumb. Good music is good music no matter the length. If there is a good song, then the song is good. If the EP is good, it's good. If the album is good, it's good. If the album is 10 hours long and it's all good, then thats also awesome
electronic music is an extremely singles centric genre so it wouldn’t bother me at all if other genres started following that route. I already gave the example of Burial for how EP’s can be just as if not more so fulfilling than albums. I’m fully in the good music is good music boat and however it’s released is fine by me and ultimately whatever the artist who created the music thinks is the best route for release is fine by me
I don't hate EPs or singles but I also don't really listen to them much. The new Circa EP is a fine length for me though. If they started releasing singles I'd probably just wait until there was enough for an album out and then check them out as a group.
I guess, if you place no value whatsoever on longer listens that are conceived and sequenced cohesively. Maybe Hollywood studios should start dropping TikToks every 3 weeks, too.
what? there are great movies, great hour long tv shows, great half hour shows, great youtube videos, great 10 second videos, great movie trilogies... what are you even trying to say
It's not dumb at all. I mean, I'm also all for "good music is good music", no matter the length. But I can still enjoy listening to full lenghts the most. Especially for vinyl (and its prices too, with which I don't think I need to get into details here, it's simple). Everyone can have different preferences. And now's the time when Circa and Anthony decide to cater to the more single-based audience etc., it's ok.
I find it hard to believe some of you have never been blown away by an individual song and frequently listen to it outside the context of an album. Quite frankly that’s mostly how I listen to music, I just go through my library or make playlists of individual songs I fucking love. I listen to full lengths sometimes too but I get just as much if not more enjoyment out of listening to songs on their own
You can place value on longer listens AND place value on individual songs or shorter EP listens! You can do both! Fucking crazy ass concept!
