Descensus has the highest hit rate of their last 3 albums. Schema, Child, Always Begin, Nesting Dolls, Phantom, title track, all perfect tunes. The other 3(?) songs are v good also

    I love phantom.
opposite of snoozer for me. I actually use the opening as my phone alarm. lol

Always begin and quiet down are the only tracks I don’t come back to on that album.

only the sun / sovereign are two of my fav circa songs ever.

The title track might be in my top 10 no lie. Just love how sludge-y it is, and reminds me of Isis.

I love playing the bass line in Schema and that track as a whole. One of their most aggressive tracks and it has an amazing build up.

Not the entire song but for that 8 bar, yes. And it fucking bops and is still great songwriting because it’s simple but powerful to the overall tone of the track.

I'm finally getting a record player for my birthday next week so I would be super interested in juturna/OLG, but im UK so I don't know if the postage would be justifiable?

    obliterate all prior things

In terms of "new" songs, the Patreon already has 8 tracks:
    -Time and Place
    -Memetic Shield
    -How Am I Not Myself
    -Electric Moose
    -Imposter Syndrome
    -Bye Bye
    -Pentagram
    -We Forgot

Lots of electronic stuff going on.

To me, it's unlikely that any of these will make it to LP 7, but these paired with the other 50-something demos, covers, and remixes they've put up, it's making the wait for LP 7 a lot more manageable.

But seriously where are the songs they were working on from their mysterious few weeks at Studio 4 just before the Pandemic?! I really thought we might see those pop up in some way by now. They mention that most of the above songs were recorded later during the pandemic.

TIL people don't like the production on Amulet. Best they've sounded since OLG. Descensus rules but the production can be grating and exhausting over time, VW is super uninspired IMO and hits only a couple times throughout it's runtime.

The overall mix on Amulet is better than most of their records, though that isn't saying much. I think it just comes down to the really rolled off high end. Some people don't hear it or it doesn't bother them, but it's grating to me and makes the drums especially sound kinda dead.
