Funny you mentioned that song - I listened to it this morning for the first time in ages, and wow. Yeah, it's not good, is it?

 

I think Phantasmagoria is the only song of their's, rarities aside, that I don't like.

 

Damn he seems kinda upset about the songs right? They’d been working on them for a long time too. That’s crazy.

 

maybe they’re not happy with the recording? I remember them being stoked on the actual songs via twitter posts.

sounds like misdirection to me. i would be very surprised if there is any truth to that.

 

especially considering the studio costs. there aren't many working bands today who could afford to trash an entire studio session/album cycle. not to mention the loss of revenue from the postponed BSN tour.

they have probably a dozen i don’t care about at all but i wouldn’t say many that i actively dislike

 

Phantasmagoria is such a good jam. Bird Sounds will always be my favorite from VW.

 

i don't care about that album one way or another, really. too much music out there to listen to a middle of the road album

 

Yeah now that I watch the clip again he might just be being really sarcastic. Let’s hope the new stuff is on the way. I’m sure they’re going to work on stuff even more with the tour being postponed

 

I like approximately 50% of this bands music but they’ve totally had more of an impact on me than most anything else. They seem to be back on the up and up creatively imo - so I’m excite for whatever comes next.

 

This is where I'm at with Violent Waves, especially because it's the only album of their's I don't love so I have no real desire to listen to it, even though I think it's mostly good/solid, when they have five other albums I'd much rather listen to.

And that's obviously not even mentioning all the other artists out there putting out top notch music. I just don't make time for albums like Violent Waves anymore.

 

Yeah, I find it so bland. The hooks don't hook me. Songs like Suitcase, Brother Song, Blood From A Stone - they are songs other people really like, but they are beyond "meh" for me. Just nothing about them I enjoy listening to. Which is a big thing to say, given that Circa are in my top 3 bands!

 

Birth Of The Economic Hit Man and The Lottery are the clear highlights on that album to me. I actually really like Blood From A Stone too.

 

I like Birth, Lottery, Bird Sounds, and Blood to varying degrees. Probably about as much as anything on BSN and more than most all of Descensus.

Wish I didn’t hate My Only Friends chorus and bridge so much because that verse is pretty great.

I never understood why Suitcase was even a thing.

 

I feel like i say this once every 6 months or so but it’s still true: blood from a stone is a top 10 circa song

 

I'll Find A Way is also tight.

 

Man I love Suitcase

 

Violent Waves has some absolute jams, but too much of it is forgettable.
