Even then, there's a lot of songs in odd time signatures and different sonic territories for them. I think it's their most prog-like album since Juturna
intradasting it's pretty relatively inconsequential to me but I suppose at least it's a better label than Sumerian
Doesn't give much more insight, but Circa are also now on Hopeless' Merch Now store. Circa Survive : Hopeless Records Nothing that would point any further to fully signing to them though. I think it'd make total sense for them, but yeah, who knows.
relistening to the discography the last two days: the drums on wish resign are so awesome. also, the longest mile is super underrated.
Right? Love the drums on Wish Resign and Stop the Car. He's a really great drummer. Mandala and the bridge of Crosses always had me like whoa too.
i saw some Crosses hate earlier in this thread and i dont get it at all. semi constructive criticism into it is masterful pacing. i will say that title track - close your eyes to see is my least favorite section of OLG, but only because the rest of the album is on another level for me.
man, maybe i need to spend more time with them, but they do not grab me like anything before it or like all your friends are gone.
I get how someone wouldn't be as into the title track I just personally like how trippy the intro and verses are. The bridge is a definite low point on the album imo (reminds me of a bunch of VW in retrospect). Close Your Eyes is some days my favorite song on the album though. It's really well crafted. Very interesting verses and chorus and Ants lines are catchy.
okay so listening critically just now, carry us away is the main offender to me. the other two have parts i do enjoy.
Haha. I saw the OLG tour this year and that song went over/translated really really well live. They had never played it live before this year. I've always liked it more than others. Great album.
Im also weird when it comes to Juturna though. golden baby and stop the car are my least favorite songs, so.
I love the title track on OLG and Close Your Eyes To See. On Letting Go cuts deep for me lyrically and I love the guitar work on that sing. And I think Close Your Eyes To See has one of the cathiest hooks on the album and I think it serves as a strong penultimate track. Love the lyrics on it too
My hope is they do another crazy deluxe 10yr with some of the demos remastered. The b sides deserve some sort of release
If anybody was on the fence about seeing them on their summer tour with AFI, check to see if your show will apply for Ticketmaster's current promotional sale. I was able to get 4 tickets to the Detroit show (and I only need 2) for $52 - that includes fees - versus $95, which is originally what I was going to have to pay for 2 tickets. I am extremely happy right now.
Well now I'm a bit confused. At first it looked like a nationwide 4th of July sale, but now I'm wondering if it's only for select venues in Michigan. I'm not seeing anything about it on Ticketmaster's social media, but the venue (The Fillmore in Detroit) posted about it. So I don't know. I definitely apologize if I'm wrong!
