The only song I don't really like on BSN is Strange Terrain. Always felt Get Out was a better opener.
Strange terrain is only weird to me because I don't feel like it sets the stage for what the rest of the album sounds like.
Strange Terrain is totally a highlight for me on BSN. My favorite on that album will probably always be Through The Desert Alone, though.
Descensus is really good. Violent Waves is probably my least favorite Circa album, although "lest favorite Circa album" is definitely a relative term.
Like it but don't love it. On the topic of artwork, on letting go's is my favorite of all time. Really like the hurricane sandy ep artwork as well.
I don't think it's the artwork. Looks to similar to the deluxe blue sky noise They need a green album. My guess is the next one is forest-based on baseless speculation
The vinyl sounded great. Love the 180g black but can't say I love getting off the couch every 3 songs. First world problems
Agree that "Strange Terrain" isn't really representative of BSN - perhaps that's why it's one of my favorites? Along with "Glass Arrows," It retains a lot of the spacey melodic sensibilities of Juturna/OLG that are largely missing from the rest of the album.
I've never particularly cared for VW, but it's been growing on me very slowly over the last 3 years. Maybe by like 2021 I'll actually like it.
This might be too harsh, but... in hindsight now, VW almost feels like a record they put out just because it was time for a new one. At least, it feels more that way than anything else they've done. I enjoyed most of it, but nothing really stands out. The word that keeps coming to mind is "bland." It's still like a 7-7.5/10 for me, but yeah.
I think that's a good way to put it. That's why I have high hopes for the new one because they atleast seem to be really taking their time with it. And the instagram previews sounded really cool...And Yip keeps getting better....and Anthony got to make a hard rock record with saosin That seems like a good equation for an exciting circa release
