I don't remember that I'll have to watch it again. That album is like post rock with 3 free form melodies in the guitars and vocals but condensed into actual organized songs with defined movements instead of the boring and predictable post rock crescendo decrescendo affair
Why you gotta stereotype post rock like that. But yeah, and that carries over into OLG too but more song oriented.
Its one of my favorite genres actually! There's alot of output there and plenty of it I don't get down with very much. My favorites are Tortoise, Godspeed, Bark Psychosis, Do Make Say Think, Sigur Ros, Fly Pan Am
Oh, good, haha. It's storming where I live so I think I might go and listen to some post rock, haha. Some might debate if this qualifies, but have you ever listened to Choirs of the Eye by Kayo Dot? It gets mislabeled as metal a lot, but I'd say it's one of if not the best post rock record ever.
Yeah, their first two records are spectacular. I really like most of Coffins on Io and Hubardo too. I saw them last year at KFN, they played mostly off the latest two records but they slipped in a track from Dowsing Anemone.
Hell yeah man! That looks great! I have the same exact thing on my right leg. One of the best decisions I've ever made.
Has anyone here done a VIP upgrade for one of their shows? Would it be worth the crazy amount of money I'd be paying for my girlfriend and I to get VIP for their show in Detroit this summer?
I've done it twice and loved it both times. The most recent one I did was for the OLG tour. My friend and I walked in, got our VIP items, then circled around the band for their stripped down session. It wasn't acoustic stuff, but really mellow takes on their songs. They played Frozen Creek, a new song, and Descensus for the OLG tour. Then afterwards they do a Q&A with the crowd for a bit and then some of them head off to do other things and some stick around to chat more. Anthony bolted after the performance/Q&A both times as I'm sure he'd be swarmed, but I've managed to talk with some of the other guys, sometimes having prolonged conversations. So if you love the band and what I described sounds appealing to you, I recommend it.
so what's everybody make of this post from circaboard? • r/circasurvive Looks like the album and single title are "set" Hoping for an announcement and release date before that new tour starts.
Kinda late, but seeing On Letting Go live was one of the few shows at that I would classify as "life changing." I've always called Juturna my favorite Circa album (which I thought was solidified after seeing the Juturna tour) with On Letting Go in a close second, but seeing OLG live was one of the most incredible concert experiences I've ever had and shined a new light on that album. Think it's my number 1 now. EDIT: If I wasn't concerned about future employment opportunities I would get a Circa Survive tattoo simply because of this show. I already have tattoos but the one I would want would go on my hand, which isn't an option right now.
