I put on OLG for the first time since the show in the car today. That record is pretty damn near perfect.
I was able to see them play the OLG b sides back in 08 I'm super excited to hear them play some of my faves that I haven't seen them play in years or they don't do often. Many of them among their best tracks. Close Your Eyes Crosses Mandala Semi Constructive Criticism OLG They had never played Carry Us Away live until this tour. And it's a really great song. Excited for that too.
I think out of the above, the biggest miss was Mandela. it just felt like they couldn't lock in the tempo right at my date
That's a bummer. I've never heard them mess up which is a feat. I used to youtube the shit out of their shows through 2010. Have seen them live in person a bunch as well.
At the Sayreville show I think Anthony forgot the words to 1000 witnesses, or he was just out of breath, because he didn't really sing a lot of it.
they were SO good last night. probably my 2nd favorite time seeing them. they're prob the best live band I've ever seen actually really.
Carry Us Away fucking slayed. Always felt that could have been a single for the album and its cray they never thought to play it before. And they reworked the chorus guitars. It was huge. Definitely a highlight. Same goes for 1000 Witnesses. The set design was unreal. So good.
my favorite moments were Close Your Eyes and Semi Constructive Criticism. seeing mewithoutyou for the first time was exciting. they've become an all time favorite band for me. A top 5 best post hardcore band of all time with fuckin Unwound and shit if you ask me. I was actually somewhat dissapointed by their setlist because it dedicated a chunk of its duration to 2 A to B tracks, a INSIWB track, Circles, and Angel of Death Came to David's Room. So yeah... Turnover somehow managed to be more boring live than on record lIke whoa. I feel bad being harsh because they're so inoffensive and they are a "fine" little band really, songs are put together competently etc..
Getting a new Anthony Green rarity at the end of the month. "Spanish Moss" Music For Everyone / A Compilation To Benefit The ACLU, by Collective Confusion Records, Sub City Records
I'm almost ready to call these guys my favorite band. They just mean so much to me. I'm on my spring break now and I want to use some of the time to go through their discography again.
They've always been a top 3 band for me since 2010, but this is finally the year where I can say that they are truly my favorite band and I would not be the person I am today were it not for this band
Love at every show they express how thankful they are that the fans allow them to keep creating. They don't have to do it by any means. But it speaks a lot to their ideals as artists. Creator vs viewer and how much they appreciate being able to create. I'll continue to view. Favorite band of all time. By miles.
How many of you in this thread have listened to the band HRVRD? Their album "The Inevitable and I" is phenomenal, and reminds me a lot of Circa.
HRVRD was pretty cool. I didn't listen to them a whole lot because of how similar their music sounded to Juturna, at least to me, but they were good
Their second album From the Bird's Cage is pretty different from their old stuff too imo... definitely would recommend giving it a listen.
I saw HRVRD open for Lydia; they were interesting. Also, when I met Anthony green after a show he said something like "thanks for coming to see my band," as opposed to thanks for coming out or whatever. It's subtle but that always stuck with me, just oozes humility.
Wow what happened to HRVRD? I kept hearing a ton about them. I really thought they were going to blow up, and then they just kind of faded away. Did I miss something?
I saw HRVRD open a Say Anything show a few years ago, I really enjoyed them but never took the time to dive into their records (outside of a few songs). Shame they pretty much disappeared, though.
