They were out on vinyl, and there may have been some really crappy MP3s floating around way back around the time of OLG, but these sound noticeably better to me.
There are few things that get me as hyped as the intro riff/verse riff/main riff in "In The Morning And Amazing"
Can't wait for the vinyl to come in A little bummed At a Loss, Resentment, Blank Slate, Most Dangerous, + 1000 steps haven't been re-recorded and put onto one of these anniversary vinyls. Maybe one day
Just got back home. What an incredible night. The VIP experience was cool. It was really awesome to see them do mellow electric versions of songs for their VIP set as opposed to just acoustic. They played a new song during that set, which was really mellow. I got to talk with Nick for a little while after most of the VIP stuff and he said the finished product will still be really mellow but with live drums and more layered guitars. That song has me really excited. It was also interesting to hear him say that he was fighting to put Lazarus on Blue Sky Noise while he didn't want The Longest Mile on it. I got to speak with Brendan for a short bit and I asked him if there were any plans for a repress of BSN and he said not right now due to label logistics and them needing to figure out what label the repress would be released through. He said best chance of it coming would be for a BSN 10-year tour if they choose to do one. As for their set, this band always brings it live so much. Excellent performance and sound. The stage setup was perfect with these two giant white OLG-esque balloons that projected these really cool moving graphics and lights and such. I would have to bite my tongue around the band if I got a chance to talk to them about BSN. Every Appendage track aside from Backmask is better than every song on the record. They dropped the ball major league with not gutting 3-4 tracks from the record and replacing them. But alas. Show was super intense. I was drained by Mandala and had to pull back for the rest. So many dude-bros and obnoxious dumb pits. Nothing will make someone convinced of toxic masculinity faster than showing them a manchild shoving people half his size. So many awful people...
Backmask is my favorite by a mile and probably the only song on there I like more than the stronger BSN tracks.
I love Backmask + Lazarus + Sleep Underground. Everyway gets a little grating and stare like you stay feels like an AG solo song to me. Not sure what I'd cut from BSN besides I felt free...that one is just a little to on the nose. haha
I went the fuck off in the center one for 1,000 Witnesses. That was definitely a set highlight for me
