battle my love single has that art I was attempting to only do official releases and with Esao art im sure I missed something
Not a hot take at all. I absolutely love how Juturna and On Letting go are mixed and the tones, and they never got anything close to sounding like that after. Some moments here and there that have similar vibes, but Juturna especially just sounds so good. Same for Balance and Composure. I love their first album because it was Brian McTernan as well.
I just love the drum tones of that album. Quake hooked me immediately. I don't think any of the other albums are badly produced / mixed and may be objectively better, but just like Juturna for Circa, that first album just sounds different in a way I'm nostalgic for. Not even a songwriting change thing, just the sonic component of it all. Listening to Quake now as I type this, and it just sounds so good and raw.
i remember being shocked they had three guitarists on that album because it sounds like one. but i think it’s also an objective fact that the production on light we made and with you spirit absolutely blow it out of the water
With you in spirit is very good and definitely features what I like about b&C, and I do appreciate the drum tone there too. It's very different in guitar, and way more layered so I get how it sounds 'better' technically. It's a nostalgia thing for sure. I just love that first B&C album so much, as well as the early Circa works (but I do enjoy the later stuff of both bands as well).
hey, you can't tell me you've believed in that train of thought (?) ;d so many influences on the OLG lyrics, let's give it some critical thinking hahh... it's like some of the funeral for a friend lyrics were supposed to be about getting a haircut, cause Matt said it a couple times on stage or whatever oh, why is this the first time I actually got that idea that the VW alternate cover is from INSIDE OF THAT SHIP! This artwork is so busy I essentialy never really focused on interpreting any of that
My ranking (musically, could not care less about the artwork): Juturna Descensus Two Dreams On Letting Go The Amulet Blue Sky Noise Violent Waves
yeah on letting go album lyrics have a clear and focused theme. its mostly about interpersonal issues of familial relationships. i dont even know which lyrics are a reference to the show lost but im sure its very likely minimal and only a reference/influence not an actual song about the show. i dont think anybody else is reading into it like that. similarly iirc anthony said the “wash off your handcuffs” lyric in the title track was influenced by the film no country for old men, but the lyrical content of the song is actually about estrangement from a family member with the double entendre serving as commentary on his relationship with god. these lyrical influence things are standard stuff imo.
I think it is a little too clean for them, but I almost feel like TTWTWM was TOO much of a course correct. That one is kind of grating over the course of the whole album. (it's one of my favorite albums ever, but not because of production) LWM is it's whole own thing, and I don't think production has anything to do with why it's not my favorite. With You In Spirit is perfect, no notes.
This reminds me of the time the guy from Secondhand Serenade told AltPress that he wrote the lyrics to "Fall For You" on the toilet. lmao
I prefer watching Anthony in Circa Survive and liked Saosin with Cove better, at least recently. Never saw Saosin with Cove back in the day.
this is a good take in 2026 im guessing well have Ant come out for a song(s) with saosin unless they play more festivals / same stages together, im not expecting Ant to tour live with Saosin anymore. I have a sort of long standing bet now with the Saosin thread here on the topic.
After the 2:30 minute mark on Quiet Down is the kinda shit I want them do more of if they come back. Absolute madness from Ant and Brendan. I'm cool with two dreams for the most part, especially bops like sleep well, late nap, and buzzhenge, but I need some more barn burners
Love all that circa does, but I’d love for Colin and Brendan to be front and center with some soaring riffs.
