Yip usually has an album where him and a band have to feel each other out if it isn't his normal 90s alt rock throwback band, but the second one they work on together usually hits pretty well. I think Descensus is a little rocky, but they figured out the secret sauce on Amulet.
fellas let's just rank the records based on artwork: Juturna On Letting Go Blue Sky Noise Appendage Descensus Amulet Inuit Sessions Two Dreams (all three variants) Blue Sky Noise (Deluxe Horse) OLG B-Sides house Violent Waves (original ship on planet) Violent Waves inside ship perspective)
It's funny that MWY was mentioned earlier, because they are the ONLY band I think that has nailed album art the way CS has. They don't have a bad one in the bunch, but I actually REALLY like the OG VW cover, as well as the deluxe BSN, just because it's nostalgic of me always lusting over that vinyl pressing but never owning it.

it got better on the last two albums. i think it did a suitable job there. i would like to see them work with somebody new.
the verse riff of the lottery still comes into my head pretty regularly. its got a nice staccato phrasing that just makes it an ear worm.
OLG and Juturna will always be my favorites but I celebrate their entire catalogue. My favorite band by far and it's not particularly close. 2 Circa tattoos and counting...
I've been vocal about loving the rest of the album too (maybe my dark horse favorite if we take Juturna out of the running), but the first four songs on Violent Waves are untouchable for me
I love the riff and chorus and Ant's vocals on "Sharp Practice" so fucking much, man. Such a cool, unique Circa song imo
All this CS talk has me reminiscing. I remember playing On Letting Go on repeat for like two months after its release. I was obsessed. I also remember buying the Juturna cd at Hastings (RIP) a few months before OLG was released, and some kid I went to high school with was there, saw me with that cd then called me a "fucking poser" and that "Circa Survive were to good for me" or something like that haha. I'll admit, at that age it hurt and made me self conscious of my music taste but looking back now I can't help but laugh. The early 200s were so weird when it came to music.
Lmao our generation sucked in middle school and high school that kind of bullying personally gave me big anxiety that im still dealing with kids today seem to be better at that, at least i hope they are back then we were so worried about like if we were cool enough to wear cool clothes and listen to cool music
