Highly recommend an instrumental discog run too while you're at it. Brendan and Colin are just a match made in heaven and you can really focus on their dynamic. Especially descensus. There is a lot going on in that record but the final muddy yip vocal mix drags it down. Brendan and Nick in particular are fucking dirty as hell on that thing

  3. It's a dream of mine to one day be in a band with the same guitar chemistry Brendan and Colin had. The way they maintain that jammy feel and also have each note sounds intentionally placed is so inspirational. So often when writing music I get stuck with a part and going "what would Circa Survive play over this or that" help me unlock something.

    I really miss them

Juturna is one of my quintessential winter albums. Descensus is also very much a winter album for me.

    Album ranking:

    Juturna
    Descensus
    Two Dreams
    On Letting Go
    The Amulet
    Blue Sky Noise

This, exactly. For me, Juturna displays this chemistry in the best possible way. After 20 years, I still get lost with a pair of earbuds and their soaring riffs.

Juturna is explicitly winter coded imo, also one of the coolest guitar records ever and easily their best for me.

All this discourse has me revisiting their discography for the first time in a while.

-child of the desert is my favorite song of theirs
-the amulet (album) is really good
-still can’t get into two dreams

Did Anthony make like a concerted effort to stop posting his wife and kids or is he like estranged rn? I remember he used to post them so much and it was very cute

She still likes all of his posts. I think they are cordial but definitely divorced. His kids just records his latest creek video he posted so he is still around them when he’s home.

We reach for the longest shadow

    Juturna: Winter
    On Letting Go: Summer
    Blue Sky Noise: Spring
    Violent Waves: Fall/Winter
    Descensus: Summer
    Violent Waves: Late Fall/Winter

I'm not sure if there is a band I can sort each album for a specific season more than Circa.

I asked him at VIP about why he didn’t do song explanations for the Avalon songs in the book that were seemingly about love, and he just kind of looked at me…… So then I followed up and said I mean I’m a divorced man as well so I get it if that’s why and he just said yeah really slowly. Like I said, I think he is making a concerted effort to keep his personal life a little more private now than he used to.

edit: and he had a girlfriend on the cruise.

I saw someone somewhere said they were sperated and gonna get divorced and then they didnt divorce. Who knows maybe they went through with it. There def was a timeline about it all seemingly.
