I feel like even with a lackluster ending, LOST actually kept up its mystery and held audiences' interests a lot better than current prestige series that consistently tank their season or two. Maybe I should rewatch
that WAS the entire name of the game with Lost, the mere KEEPING UP with the mystery. every episode adds some thread to the mystery, meanwhile the mystery never gets furthered or ever coalesces into coherence or an effective story at all. instead it just cynically serves singularly to make the show feel ultra padded. it was compelling at first until you catch on. of course everyone now knows that the show didnt have a real plan or ending to its plot. i cant fathom rewatching it, i bet most cabt either. the extent of the meaningless padding puts even Dragon Ball Z to shame.
It got extremely convoluted for sure but what kept me watching was the chemistry between the characters. They were so good at this in their peak, at one point I would've even eaten up a dozen more seasons on the island lol. It's a shame they fumbled on both the mystery aspects and the characterization in S6. Love the finale but most of what led up to it was so clunky and the strong fantasy flair combined with the drama felt right out of a CW show at times. The harder focus on sci-fi in S4 and S5 appealed to me much more. Those seasons also felt more action driven.
he makes some of the most boring music on his own. i enjoyed a good portion of avalon but everything since has just been a complete dud.
Never got into his solo stuff. Love the collab stuff he did earlier on in his career like Jeer, Zoloft, High and Driving, but never felt his solo stuff did anything for me.
like i said i kinda “get it” why people were into it. i also find it fitting that no one talks about it these days. as always i dont wanna put people down or whatever i just like talking about these things. i try to be funny and insightful but obviously one mans punk is another mans bunk.
I just don't gravitate to the kind of music he makes solo. Not saying it's bad. What are we doing here? /shrug
we did a little rewatch earlier this year while my wife was sick and I had fun. I have great memories of going to a friends house every week to watch with a group of people. Great show.
No one talks about it these days is a very strange thing to say about a television show that's like 20 years old. Like ... Ya no one talks about the old show because there are too many entertainment options these days to keep up with even current shows.
