pretty hyped for that record to drop but I kind of wish it was an instrumental project. The vocals and lyrics aren't really doing much for me on this track, but I'm vibing.
first really warm day of the season today so I'm outside on the balcony chilling out to Blue Sky Noise, life is good
Listening back to the patreon stuff lately. So much to talk about from the end game of this band. The Cursive - Driftwood cover is unreal. The Knife - Heartbeats cover is unreal. Pentagram is cool, reminds me of a bird sounds kinda vibe. Bye bye is better than Drift. Time and Place is very touching and although corny maybe overly earnest it still hits pretty hard. The At Night it Gets worse and Stop the Car quarantine seshs are incredible peak circa. Brendan's new joint Hyperviolets has similar vibes and reminded me how much gold there was from that time.
By my count they put out 81 tracks of covers, electronic reimagining, live recordings, demos, and new songs (some of the ideas ended up on two dreams in one way or another). Pretty crazy time that was. I was so locked in to these guys during quarantine.
I just did the $5 level and you can download literally everythinggggg. Demos, podcasts, stems of all the albums, live album from 2017. Totally worth throwing them 5 bucks.
So I didn’t super keep up with this band after blue sky noise. Why did they break up? You’d think they would have done a proper final run. Sorry if I’m so late to the game
they were doing a BSN anniversary tour that was delayed several times. I believe Anthony’s drug use had to do with it but things just sort of boiled over between the dudes and the band is done.
Yes it was primarily due to Anthony needing to focus on his mental health/sobriety Circa Survive's Anthony Green Gives Mental Health/Sobriety Update After Tour Cancellation The surprising thing was Anthony did a solo tour instead of the Circa shows around the same time and then of course L.S. Dunes started later that year. It seems the band just couldn't function anymore not that Anthony was stepping away from music/performing during that time.
Sobriety choices often have a habit of feeling personal, indecipherable, and frustrating all at once to those involved. I wouldn't fault Anthony or the band for how it all went down without knowing more - just a bummer all-around (but also maybe what needed to happen)
He also wasn't the only one in the band strugging with substance abuse if I remember well? It was probably a much needed break from each others for all of them.
Yeah another member went into rehab. Can’t remember which one now but I remember them tweeting it and Anthony replying he loved them.
