Each EP song Ranking no one wants buzzhenge Late nap Curitiba DOTWC Psychic Electric moose sleep well Our last shot Even Better Imposter Drift Gone for Good the closers on both EPs really are something else.
the many, many complaints that were abound in this thread about them never releasing full lengths again seems entirely moot at this point when both six track EP's can be taken as a whole that like i already pointed out rivals their best work. just sayin.
its incredibly disheartening when a band as fan-forward as circa survive has people like that commenting on their life's work without a second thought, i mean the EP's might not be everybody's thing but if you genuinely think they suck i have to imagine there's just a hatred in your heart for all things beautiful
Even though I did not listen to this band that much (funnily enough the latest Saosin record with Anthony is one of my favorites from 2016), I really got into their music with the 'A Dream About Love' EP and meanwhile I prefer EP1 intstead of EP2, I have to say that 'Curitiba' is something else, that song is so good. Really glad Anthony still makes music, he has such a unique voice.
It’s a massive bummer. I was in the safe camp group on Facebook (which was just fan-moderated, no members) and I dipped from there in a heartbeat after I saw how many shitheads populate that group and how much backlash the new EPs were getting
ive seen alot of people on the sub reddit too say they arent fans less dickish though however, when they started jamming new stuff on the patreon - everyone there was loving it and directly super encouraging to the band about it i imagine alot of those people are old diehards. was really cool to see.
Circa has never done anything bad. Like sure maybe a few songs here and there I don’t love but they always earn my respect.
HIs comment history should prove he's an anomaly. I'm a huge Circa fan that hasn't clicked with this EP yet and I fully understand it might just not be for me, but I'm glad others are liking it. Would my personal preference be for them to expound on what they did on The Amulet? Absolutely. Am I going to rant about how much this album/band sucks online? Absolutely not. I'm glad they've had such a prolific output up to this point, and I hope they continue writing whatever makes them happy. I'm guessing the vast majority of Circa fans in this thread who don't like these releases feel the same as I do.
Absolutely love these EPs and was quite in shock how good the new one is - it's really no fillers to me, coming together to compile an equivalent to a standard LP. "Late Nap" and "Buzzhenge" gave me chills, but I really enjoy all of it, sometimes it feels closer to let's say Minus The Bear than old Circa, but well, it this a bad thing?!
I'm still angry that I missed the 10 year Juturna tour because of my shitty job at the time. Sucks to hear they are struggling and I hope they can weather the storm, as they've done in the past. I had no idea this was coming out, need to fit it in today.
the only thing more surprising than MF10 coming in here to complain about the new EPs is that he didn't also ask whether Balance and Composure are getting back together
These EPs are a bit more of a mixed bag for me than it seems they are for a lot of y’all. Love to see them try new stuff, just as it is often with any artist trying new things some of it lands & some of it doesn’t. It’s very refreshing though and they sound as inspired as ever. Looking forward to them continuing in this direction The conversation about full lengths coming up again is silly, the debate was never about whether or not Circa would continue putting out quality tunes lol. This band has always been exceptional at executing well balanced and complete full lengths, it is okay for people to crave that
Been playing the EPs back to back in a playlist, so it's technically an album, right? Honestly thinking about Violent Waves lately. Do we think it'll ever get a repress? Think Sumerian has the rights now.
Both EPs have really strong openers and closers, playing them at once definitely provides the length of an LP but still feels a little like two parts of a whole. Probably also due to staggered release dates. But it also doesn’t really matter, like, at all lol
Electric Moose might be my least favorite of the 12 songs. Even though I love the ending to the track
Openers for both EPs feel like weak points to me... must confess to frequently starting on track 2 with both the past few days
