Didn't see an album thread for this wonderful (hopefully not) final record from Circa Survive, so I thought I'd make one. It might actually edge out BSN for me to round out their top three.

It’s very good in spite of the slower pace which I think turned off a lot of hardcore circa fans.

  3. The Amulet felt like a nice return to Juturna/OLG, but at the same time, I was very ready for something new for them after Descensus and that record. This took a couple of listens to click with me, but once it did, it was exactly what I was looking for. Some all-timers on here.

Aside from a handful of songs, this album (or EPs) took a little while to grow on me. At this point, though, I love this album and some of these songs are among my favorites that they've ever done.

I think I’d put this up there with Juturna and Descensus as my personal top 3, with OLG and The Amulet not far behind.

It's also growing on me a lot as well. I'll always have a hard time ranking their discography though as a lot of it is tied to nostalgia and formative memories so there will always be bias towards their older stuff. However, I don't think they have a weak release at all, and if I made a set list of 20ish songs, there's bangers on every album that I'd include.

Mostly agreed. I don't know if a song from Violent Waves would appear in my top 20...maybe The Lottery. That song would definitely be in my top 25 though.

Brother song is my all timer from violent waves, love that one and when I heard it live it was fantastic.

  10. For me, Descensus is the only one where I can feel some of the filler - still like a 7/10 on their worst day. It's a good record. I love Violent Waves. Such a weird and dark record, especially following Blue Sky Noise.

Interesting, I feel the opposite where I think VW suffers from a little bit of filler and Descensus, while a bit of an oddball itself, brought some life back to the band for me after VW.

With that said, I do like VW still. This band just didn't miss for me.

Only thing I don’t like about two dreams is the sequencing. Wish they would have mixed it up when they combined the EPs

Sleep well. Buzzhenge. Curitiba. Late nap. Are maybe my most listened to circa songs at this point.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

I love about half of the tracks, and are very meh on the others (with neither dream having more than the other).

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Revisiting this and all of these songs are so good and the whole collection is just a vibe that works for me, especially on a grey, rainy day like today.

Like that bass line on “Psychic Readings”!? I just melt into it.

I'm glad that this grew on some of ya'll but for me, and despite what I said in a prior post, it really hasn't and isn't what I expected or wanted from a Circa album, especially since it's looking like the final chapter. There are moments I really love (Psychic Readings being one), but overall, it just doesn't do much for me and lacks the parts of their sound that have made them one of my favorite bands.

    Just for shits & giggles....

I really love this as a final album for circa. Listened to OLG yesterday while cleaning and it was great but two dreams being what it is is perfect for me
