Y'all over here praising Lazarus, and I'm just thinking about how good Stare Like You'll Stay and Everyway are.
I could never get on with Backmask. The chorus is so long where Anthony's spitting like 8 or 9 long winded sentences with no interesting melody. By the time the chorus gets halfway done it reminds me of Drake and Josh theme song chorus on Nick. Melody goes nowhere, chorus keeps going.
I never said they don't work for me. I just find "You don't have the same necessarily subjective emotional reaction I have lmao" to be an absurd thing to say.
Okay. The original post presented that line in a discussion around the worst Circa lyrics with no commentary and an “lol.” Your reply to me did nothing to contribute. At the end of the day, I don't care if someone dislikes a certain part of a song, but I was genuinely surprised that someone would think those lyrics are laughable.
So for the Philly dates, Friday is the Circa headliner and Saturday is the Thrice? It's a tough call, and I've never seen Thrice live before, but I think I'm going Circa because I gotta see as many of these songs live as I can.
So apprently I preordered the blue/white swirl vinyl twice on accident. If anyone is interested in buying it let me know. I've also got an extra shirt in size medium, the white one from the preorder.
I'm sooo conflicted about getting a ticket for this upcoming tour. Mines one of the very first dates and I really don't wanna get roped into seeing what may just be an outing with an old setlist.... Would someone with a twitter presence mind asking the guys what we can quantitatively expect in the way of new songs for this tour? Pretty please I really just wish they were doing an album support tour rn and it feels weird and disappointing that they're not.
Both are in my top 5 fav Circa tracks. I feel... encapsulated... when the choruses for both songs occur. It’s like a comforting, warm blanket of sadness.
I don't have sources but I know Anthony has said on multiple occasions that they were playing a lot from this album.
Yep that is exactly how I would describe it. Like exactly. There's something about those two songs in particular that just bring so much comfort. They make me feel warm and fuzzy inside and like I'm in the middle ground between awake and asleep.
Unless you think "heart-wrenching-ness" is anything other than description of an emotional reaction, then that's effectively exactly what was said.
8PM, they're still arguing bout how mad they've been foreal guys there's nothing to be mad about here geez. ever ever ever ever
I think it's cool that you guys who really dig on Blue Sky Noise and Appendage also really like The Amulet. It really feels like the fan base is mostly in agreement for this album cycle that they really nailed it in terms of expectations vs. execution. There's always been a lot of upheaval and wildly differing opinions on this band, so this is a special moment. It feels like a whole new chapter.
"Lazarus" might've been the most overrated song here before "Flesh and Bone" showed up. I do really like it, especially the bridge, but have never seen it as being super high up in their discog or anything. Also yeah... I think it really might be my least favorite on Appendage besides the first demo track. It is a killer EP, to be fair, and all 4 of the studio songs are on point.
Flesh and Bone is the first softer song in a while that hasn't thrown off the momentum of the album. the last 3 tracks start mellowing out the album, all leading up to final explosion of The Amulet.
