This is realllllly starting to get its hooks in me. At Night... is probably my fav now. His crooning on that track transport me.
One cool part about this record is that every song on it is good to the point where each listen my favorite tracks change. At the moment the combo of Stay and Rites of Investiture is my favorite part
Yeah I'm pretty obsessed right now. I've pretty much exclusively been listening to it in the car since it came out, and I plan on sitting down with lyrics again tonight.
well according to Anthony in that new interview the albums about "alienation, politics, violence, sex, birth, and acceptance." so there ya go. cum
The Yip hype is real with all his releases haha. It always goes "This is the BEST (insert artist) album ever written" every single time. Not hating becasue I love most of the stuff he puts out, especially lately, but the dude does love to hype up his releases.
This is such a great driving record. ESPECIALLY with the falling leaves, dropping temperatures, and (for me at least) having quite a few cornfields to drive around
That's what I'm saying, he always says that a band's new release is the best thing they've ever done. I don't always agree with him, but there's an argument to be made for this record.
Keep You is the best Pianos record After the Party is the best Menzi record This is in a way the best CS record in that it feels like every moment is 100% vital and deliberate. But some of his other albums are just awful. Like Charmer. Blah.
I like a lot of Charmer but I do prefer SPIN. He did just say that Say Anything are writing their best album ever, I find that one VERY hard to believe.
Yeah he's off his head on that one. I Don't Think It Is was pretty decent song-wise, I just listened to my vinyl of it yesterday, just that whole production thing... yeesh..., I've only listened to that one and the pizza one, but Charmer was easily one of the most boring, lifeless, meeeeeeeeh albums I've ever heard and the production only made it worse.
Charmer is a little disjointed since it was technically finished without half the band if i remember correctly. Give SPIN a listen, it's basically everything Tigers Jaw does well.
Stay is probably my least favorite track on here. I still enjoy it, but not nearly as much as the rest of the album.
The intro riff alone makes it top 5 for me. It also reminds a lot of In the Morning and Amazing, so that helps.
One minor complaint I do have about the title track is that the ending is sort of abrupt, and I think the song could have benefitted from a slightly longer, more ambient outro somewhat like they do to end Flesh and Bone.
