Circa Survive's Anthony Green: 'The Amulet' Album Is Like Therapy for Us Just saw this. Not sure if it was posted. Can’t wait for the Thrice tour.
Nah it wasn't anything like that. Just about which albums you prefer most over the course of thread discussion. Ha
It’s really growing on me. Probably my third favorite Circa album, which I was not expecting at all. There isn’t a track I don’t like.
I hope this grows on me more. I like it, but I don't adore it. My first album with this band was Descensus, and I was floored away by how complex, varied, and grandiose it was. I still remember how Schema through Only The Sun felt like I was in another world the first time I heard the album. The Amulet doesn't tackle the same bases that drew me to this band, at least not yet, but that's okay. It reminds me of BSN and I still consider that a masterful record, so hopefully it clicks more in the future!
This doesn’t remind of me BSN at all. Still think that album was this band’s peak. But that’s okay, because this record is so much better than I expected it to be after being pretty underwhelmed after their last 2-3 releases.
This doesn't remind me of BSN at all in a good way. I feel like BSN still has some great songs, but some just lose me completely. I am not a fan of Frozen Creek or Spirit in the Stairwell.
I do actually hear some BSN in here, the best elements, but only glimmers. It's very colorful like BSN was

What makes At Night It Gets Worse so good? Song has just *something* that makes it a joy to listen to.
the lyrics are super esoteric on this. I was reading them last night. They're really bizarre in a good way. ..... regarding the above, someone take a pic of the lyric sheet lol
weirdest word/phrase/wtf is he talking about per song on the new album: 1 tourniquet 2 ambry/ rosary beads 3 the thorn in your paw 4 (this ones not weird) 5 amethyst 6 lidocaine 7 fiending wet nurse writhe 8 i've been seeing extra light 9 garden snake 10 this ghost has been with you all along
He was clean for every song on that album except for Nesting Dolls. I read somewhere that he was still using when he wrote that song. I think it was in that lengthy Huffington Post story with the band when Anthony came out about using.
okay, yea thats a bit weird.. wonder what the meaning of the song is. I literally have no idea on this one
