I know that people liked the original frozen creek but the album version is freakin sweet. Such a powerful song
It is a bit more ballad’y’ than the OG live version but I still love it. That song just feels really true. Like you can feel the emotion in the words. Hits me good every time.
If only the songs after it were as good lol. 4 and 5 are the worst CS songs. And frozen creek is on that list too, it just feels so flat. Through the Desert is an underrated song kinda, pretty cool but not talked about as much. Not one of their best songs, but important for them from a songwriting standpoint.
I like my circa WEIRD and ETHEREAL, not pushed through a RADIO ROCK filter that's all about GUITAR SOLOS and DUMB LYRICS and BEING LOUD. But I just find the melodies really annoying and it's too "rock". And the intro is grating for some reason.
If anything, I Feel Free is the one that had potential if it weren't for the production and lyrics. At least the melody has an ounce of creativity to it.
If a song is good it's good, and that's a great song. If you've ever had a relationship with a person who blames you for everything the song is pretty damn relatable
Maybe it's just something I don't relate too because I haven't experienced that really, haha. Connecting with a song like that is so so tight so power to ya
i was in the worst relationship of my life back when this album came out. I was blamed for everything and then when I got cheated on I was blamed for that and took the person back bc they made me feel like it was my fault. I would just blast this song as loud as I could and scream along ha. That was a long time ago, but I'm still brought back to a very specific day listening to it now. Haha
I think Strange Terrain is my favorite BSN song. They capture a magic on it that I don't think they're able to replicate quite the same. It's the perfect mix of their weirder older sound with the more pop oriented or whatever they were trying to go for in BSN. I love the vocal melodies throughout
Plus Strange Terrain goes IN live. Man when that chorus kicks in, you'll be hard pressed to find a louder singing crowd at any other show. People always go nuts
Huh, interesting. Just noticed that Ken Vasoli is credited for additional guitar on Lustration. Come to think of it, that catchy little riff in the outro kinda does remind me of Vacationer. Not sure if that's him or not though
Unless there's a note higher than that last "GET OUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT" in the song, then yes the highest note is E5
Through The Desert Alone is the best song on the album and one of my favorites from the band. Surprised to see that someone thinks it's underrated. Maybe on this forum it is, but the band has kept that around in their setlist pretty consistently since BSN. I'd say it's a fan favorite.
Yeah, I love BSN, but Through the Desert Alone is the clear standout for me. I've recently been appreciating The Longest Mile more than i did when this first came out. I don't understand why Imaginary Enemy and I Felt Free get so much hate. Sure, they're a little more straight forward, but it's pretty obvious that's exactly what Circa was going for on BSN compared to Juturna and OLG.
I really don't think Imaginary Enemy is as straighforward as people make it out to be. Those offbeat verses don't exactly make it a straightforward radio hit.
