Rites of Investiture gets me really pumped up. I caught myself doing 100+ down the freeway the other day. I was just super into the song, drumming on the steering wheel, and not paying attention to my speed
Premonition Stay Never Tell a Soul The Hex At Night It Gets Worse Rites of Investiture Tunnel Vision The Amulet Flesh and Bone Lustration Lustration first 30 seconds is as good as anything, but then just feels safe and straightforward to me... the outro should've been cut. Title track verses and outro are great, but chorus and bridge frustrate me. All of my bottom three lend credence to the earlier complaint someone had about boring/predictable vocal melodies, but none of the others do, IMO.
This is slowly growing on me now. Not that I didn’t like it but I’m finding more memorable things with successive listens.
Has anyone else still not gotten their digital download from MerchNow? On Friday I got sent a link to the 4 pre-release tracks so I emailed them expressing my grave concern, and today they reply with the exact same link to just those 4 tracks. The lesson here is always go through Bandcamp if it's an option.
Yep. It's still too early, and I have a lot of history with Circa, but this might be my favorite from them. I really think this is the best they've sounded production wise though. It's pretty much perfect to me.
I like the vocals being a little further back, I feel like it allows everything else to shine through a little more, which is warranted since there is some awesome stuff going on instrumentally. I like this approach better than the "in your face" vocals of BSN.
Lustration, Never Tell a Soul, and Stay are my top 3 so far. I feel like all the tracks benefit from the flow of the album though. This is an incredible full album listening experience.
Also I'll say that Premonition of The Hex is their most intoxicating and hypnotizing song since Suspending Disbelief
Yeah I'm really grateful for Flesh and Bone too. I know it's not really comparable, but the vibe of it reminds me of Kicking Your Crosses Down in how it anchors OLG.
I got one from hopeless directly that was a link to bandcamp I believe. I also preordered through merch now and they DL they gave me was really shitty quality. Like 160kbs and the total download size was like 40mb. Check your spam for a DL from hopeless. Mine was in my promotions tab in gmail.
Wtfff. Why tf would one vendor have a super low quality digital copy? Someone should prob email the Circa guys about that shit
Yeah I actually cancelled the MerchNow order and just bought from Bandcamp for exactly that reason. I've only listened to the album once so far - about a week ago when it leaked - and have been waiting to get it in lossless before giving it a second listen.
Fellas im going to be honest here, I was ready to call Will Yip a dummy for saying this is their best record. But the argument is there that this is.
MerchNow is such a crapshoot. Pre-ordered the vinyl on Amazon for like $15 shipped and it arrived on release day, like clockwork. Hopefully that still "helps" the band roughly as much as MN - if not, it sucks, but I just can't use them unless they're the only source. Bandcamp is fucking awesome and should be used for all digital music purchases, IMO. Ideally, bands that are on there would offer a download code with the vinyl.
