I hope this album does well numbers wise. They deserve it. The album has grown on me a lot since the leak. Now it reminds me of their earlier stuff.
Holy Lord is the vinyl packaging grand. Sounds A+ too, and on 180g. I had goosebumps the entire time. Masterpiece.
I'm a Circa fan, but BSN is the only Circa album I'm flat-out in love with for the reasons you've stated. Haven't listened to The Amulet yet, but this has me excited.
still dig this. opinion hasnt changed too much. its good. flashes of brilliance especially the back half. another solid record from a wonderfully consistent band
@Your Milkshake Dude you had me so hyped for At Night It Gets Worse that the first time I heard it I was let down haha. After a couple more listens though dang I can see why you love it. Great vocal melodies and intricacies I didn't catch the first time.
With how clean and smooth Anthony sounds on this I just realized the album ends with his more abrasive vocals.
Yeah, idk, I'm a huge Circa and Anthony fan....but I'm like at least 10-20 listens in on this and nothing's blowing me away. There's definitely a handful of moments that are great. I like that his lyrics are more abstract and weird in this like early Circa. The new things he's doing with his voice are cool. Overall though, I think the melodies and songs just dont stand out enough. The album just kind of feels like a blur. I remember the tracks when I'm playing it, but after that...it's just nothing. Overall I'd say Jut=OLG >> BSN > VW=Descensus > Amulet
After two listens I think it's somewhere in the middle of their last three records. I really like what AG did lyric wise here.
Yeah I'm not really gonna bother with ranking at this point but I'll stand by saying that I like this more than Descensus and nowhere in the near future do I see that changing
I realize now that some people might not want me to spoil the artwork for them, do you think i should take them off?
In case anyone needs more info on the snake-bell: "Esao's explanation of the artwork: "the bell represents someone who has already passed. The serpent holding the bell hammer out of reach shows that an inner demon was silencing that person from asking for help or from being able to make the sound that would make them feel whole.”"
Review on Monday finally finished editing it - interview has been transcribed and currently editing it
This is a solid album. Like all Circa albums, it feels a bit long to me and a lot of it blends together, but it's definitely my favorite since BSN.
It would be in my top 30, maybe top 20. I'd put Flesh And Bone in my top 10 immediately though. And yes I have my top 30 Circa songs ready to go
